Lays flat except for the inner wrap of the roll which I expect will flatten out over time.Smells (not strongly) like rubber, which it should.A little short of the dimensions I ordered. (2'x4') actual 23.6"x47.7" but close.Overall I think it's a very good value.

I've been using it for over a year for hobbyist electronics projects. Still looks great, keeps the work area neat looking and easy to clean. Used a nearby outlet as ground for easy setup.

Ok mat. Wrist strap and cable, and cable to ground, could be heavier and with better connections. As I wanted to ground to a 3-wire plug, I bought an appropriate plug with a ground only connector (available Amazon) via a banana plug socket so needed a plug on the end of this kit’s grounding cable. Not hard, just extra. If I needed this a lot (I don’t) I’d look for an upgraded kit.

I shock myself so badly in one room at my parents' house when I visit because of the particular carpet. I got sick of using a metal intermediary to ground myself since a big enough charge still buzzed my hand/arm, and a wrist strap plugged in was annoying.Now, I just have the mat laid on the floor so I'm discharging whenever I walk on it. I still feel a very tiny zap sometimes, but it's so much less since it's on my feet, and in no way irritating.

Pleased with the quality. Lays flat pretty quickly. I don't remember there being a strong smell when opening, but it definitely aired out quickly and doesn't smell now a few months in. Smooth surface with a nice feel. Bottom has good grip.

My pain (medical and holistic) recommended this to add to my pain management program. However, it doesn't have instructions or an owners manual with it. Hell, I don't know which side is up or down. This is the cause of my low rating. I will adjust it depending on response.Please advise.

Having a proper rubber anti-static mat really does make all the difference! I'm kind of embarrassed to say that I had been using for longer than I would like to admit. The thing was terrible to actually use, though it technically did do its job. The major problem with it was that it warped and wouldn't stay flat because the vinyl mats never do.One warning: This is a non-spongy thick neoprene rubber mat, and it smells like one. Air it out for a few hours before you put it in a room without ventilation. I unwrapped it and stuck it outside overnight and that helped with the worst of it. And then I brought it in and put it on the bench … totally flat. What more could I ask for?Well okay, for resistance to be within spec … but I was pretty sure it was going to be, and it was. One snap in one corner for the included ground lead which terminates in a ring lug instead of a banana plug as I might've hoped. Probably better that way, but I wasn't set up for it conveniently.The included cheap wrist strap does have a banana plug … but not an alligator clip. It's intended for you to plug in to the ground lead at the snap rather than clipping on to the mat. This isn't a problem for me because I have multiple banana jack ground points at the bench anyway.Several millimeters of static-dissipating neoprene mat that lays flat and doesn't have an overly strong smell after a day or so and a spare wrist strap if someone needs one. For the price, a decent showing. I'm pretty happy with it.
