Great habitat for grasshoppers, frogs, and other small-medium size objects. It has a mesh netting for breathability and a see-through plastic door to catch, observe, and release. Carrying handle makes it easy to pickup and store. Very light-weight. Plastic orange, rectangular base for good stability. Recommend for anyone needing a simple habitat and for routine outdoor adventures / observation.

I bought this as an "extra" secondary gift for my grandson. I had no idea at the time that it would be such a big hit! My grandkids, particularly my grandson love this little cage. It is very sturdy and has held up through multiple critters, mostly lizards and frogs. The main thing he likes is now he is allowed to bring his "pets" into the house for a while until his Mom makes him let them go. Great purchase and I would highly recommend it.

My 8yr old daughter wanted the Melissa and Doug cuter one and I thought the steel sides might be necessary. But after seeing the extra space and the practical design of this one, we were sold. The mesh is more likely to rip, but is easily replaceable with a screw driver. Also the door slides very easily, she had a hard time with the other. I wish they offered this in wood, but this is the best out there.

The enclosure is sturdy and very well made, however, the mesh sides pose a potential injury risk to certain species. My praying mantis, for example, gets its feet "stuck" in the mesh as it tries to move around. Also, the "live" food (i.e. small fruit flies) are able to crawl out of the mesh and land on my countertop! Essentially, it's a great enclosure, but not suitable for every critter...

I got this for my grand daughter who is turning 5. She loves catching all kinds of bugs! I got her a plastic bug cage last year which she loved but I thought she would like this one for the fireflies. She loves to take them in her room at night and this one has the netting which will add allow for lots of air circulation. Nice size but lightweight for her to carry. The door just pivots sideways so she doesnt have to fumble with any kind of latched. Plus it came with a little bugt that I'm sure she'll love to do. It has activities ike a maze and learn how to draw a bug...etc

I have purchase several of these for my grandson. He loves and uses them all. I have a lot of blue belly lizards on my property and he has been catching them barehanded since he was just a year old (He's 6 now). We even used one as as a temporary home to care for an injured one he rescued. The netting lets plenty of air in and is pretty hard to tear. Despite the roughness of treatment they get from the kids, only one has torn and the dog did it. With summer coming, I will be needing more as on our best day, 6 were caught. At the end of the day, he releases them where he caught them before he goes home. I can't stress enough how much pleasure these have brought us!

My 3 year old loves this for catching bugs. It does a great job keeping them in but also gives them space to run around.

This has withstood a remarkable amount of abuse (I gave it to my 2 year old for frog catching) and the mesh has stood up very well. It's durable and strong plastic, which is really all you can ask for.

Bought it for my granddaughter's birthday. She is 10 years old and loved it. She had to bring it with her everywhere she went. Good quality and it has large viewing areas so she can see all sides if the bugs that she placed in the unit. Bought her a pocket size book of bugs of North America to go with it so she could look up the different bugs she collects and learn about them.
