Perfect fit with my Sony A7r IV and some old glass from 1964 with M42 screw mounts. As another reviewer noted, you'll need a fine flathead screwdriver to adjust the orientation, but once properly rotated for your camera, you are all set. Works great.

Worked great for my old Meyer-Optik lens on my Sony A7R IV. I ordered two more to use on two other M42 lenses I just ordered on a popular online auction site:) Fun to play around with old lenses on new cameras. There are four small straight-slot set screws you can loosen with a jeweler screwdriver so that you can rotate your lens to keep the aperture markings on top. Another reviewer complained about the aperture markings ending up on bottom of lens - must not have noticed the set screws. I can't think of a reason to buy a more expensive adapter. Just buy one of these for each M42 lens you want to adapt to E-mount.

I wanted to mount a nice Fujicon f1.4 50mm lenses from a Mamiya Sekor SLR on a Sony a6000. The following problems in order of severity came up.1. The adapter moves the lens so far away from the sensor that 10 feet (3m) is about the farthest the lens will focus. In other words it makes a nice macro adapter, but is not practical as an adapter for this lens.2. This lens has a small tab on the f stop ring which extends past the base of the lens. The tab easily clears the body of the Mamiya camera body, but the diameter the adapter is too large interfering with the tab . This jams the f stop ring and keeps it from turning. Other adapters appear to have the necessary narrow land width.3. When the lens was screwed on to adapter the f stop and focus markings were on the wrong side. Couldn't be seen from the top.4. The thread adapter insert base inside the adapter is not blackened. Probably will cause reflections.I looked carefully at the design. There seems to be no reason to have such a great standoff. Without the insert it could be made 1/3 it's current length and allow infinity focus. It is only because this adapter is made to use inserts that it has to be this long and heavy.At least the outside finish was good. Makes a nice paperweight

It is a well made metal adaptor that goes on well and comes off without aggravation. Good value.That said, there are a few things you need to know : When shooting with this rig, your camera may not meter light if you have set your initial metering set to “evaluative†or “balancedâ€. Once I changed to ‘spot meter’ on my Rebel Xti, things worked fine in manual and Av modes. Using M42 lenses with a DSLR is definitely not something you should do for fun and not to save money - newer lenses are way more convenient to use. Older lenses are all about going after a ‘vintage’ look - which may or may be discernable vs an image taken with the kit lens your camera likely came with, especially when digital image processing software is used. Canon DSLRs are a good choice with M42 lenses since the sensor to lens flange distance is long enough to allow you to focus to infinity (vs Nikon and some others that have too short a distance and only let you focus on things that are close). Just be aware BEFORE you buy this adapter without a chip - Canon cameras need the chip to enable focus confirmation tools on the camera - your only focus aid with this adapter will be your mark I eyeball!

Overall good quality. Those adapters have various design tolerances, some of them work well for the cheaper Sony cameras, but are hard on the mounts of the more expensive ones. This one attaches without problems both to Sony Nex 5T and Sony A7s II.

TL;DR - Great adapter with solid machining, but you'll need to make your own cost benefit analysis.Lets address the elephant in the room. Is this adapter worth paying the extra amount? So I like Neewer, they make products that typically fit neatly into that great intersection of price and performance. And this adapter feels very good in hand. The machining is nice, the threading is precise and the mount itself fits well. But I've had A LOT of adapters going back to the original Sony NEX days and the difference between a very cheap adapter vs a premium adapter isn't as definitive as you might think.Would I personally purchase this adapter? No. It's an M42 adapter. It's about as basic as you can get. And if you're planning on shooting a lot of M42 lenses you understand that image quality likely won't be significantly impacted by the adapter. But I can make a reasonable case for why you would want to purchase this over something on a competing platform.1) Neewer is a fairly reputable brand and you don't need to gamble on the quality of the machining. If you care about having a solid fit between the adapter and camera, this one is a sure thing. Cheaper adapters can sometimes be too tight or too loose and the return process is often, unpleasant. This is peace of mind.2) You don't need to wait. 1-day shipping baby.3) Easy returns if you happen to find the adapter is not for you, or in the rare instance the fit isn't perfect.These reasons have value in and of themselves. And that's what you're actually paying for.In terms of the adapter itself: 5/5It's made well, does it's job. Easy.
