All this time I had been using wood scraps to hold down my workpieces for flattening. I saw the Woodpeckers flattening system (way too much $$$$$) but I liked their little hold-down claws. I thought there had to be an affordable to alternative! That's when I came across the O'Skool claws.Priced nicely, I ordered a set. When I opened the package I found them to be heavier and more robust than I was anticipating, which was a very good thing. The first time I used them I was like "ahhhhh, this is exactly perfectly what I needed!".So far I've used them when I flatten some rough walnut pieces like you see in my review photos. Being flatter on one end and angled/raised at the other (with claws on each end and plenty of space for screws) allows you to position these easily and effectively. I plan to use them over at the cnc as well, when I flatten some smaller pieces for other projects. This is a quality product at a fair price. Definitely worth adding to your shop👌ðŸ»

Simple & easy to use; just screw down to secure your wood slab or cutting/chopping board. I used these with a Rockler flattening jig setup and it was easy & flawless.

I often had problems holding flat stock in place with regular bar clamps. These are so easy to use. Just secure them into a sacrificial piece of wood or your workbench at both or one end of you project and your on your way. It’s a perfect fit every time. Secures and clamps any board in place for a fraction of the cost of a bar clamp.

I've seen a variety of tools to hold down material for machining, but this the first time I'd seen something like these clamping dogs. They work using the same concept as a set of patternmaker's pinch dogs, but without protruding above the surface of your workpiece.I have a roughing/slab flattening jig and carriage I built that accepts a large plunge router, and using these to hold down material will be much superior to my current method of screwing down the workpiece and having to put stop clamps on the carriage so I don't run into the screws with my router bit. These will let me machine the entire surface of the workpiece instead of having to stop short of the ends! That's a pretty big deal considering the amount of chips generated when flattening or thicknessing a slab of wood, it's almost impossible to see what you're doing and you are to a great degree working by feel. The dogs themself are really heavy steel and have a nice finish to them, they should last a lifetime. It's nice that you can choose from larger or smaller teeth depending on which end you orient towards the workpiece.Of course, you will use these with workpieces that are oversized so you can trim off the parts of the wood end grain that end up with tooth marks from the clamp teeth. But that's a small limitation, I can't think of a time I've tried to rough-surface a workpiece that was already cut to size.Overall, they seem maybe a little pricey for four bent pieces of steel that took just a few press/brake operations each to make. But they do their job well, and I am glad to have them in my toolbox.

There's not much to saw about these, They seem to be strong steel that will not bend easily when tightened down. the hold the workpiece in place well as expected. They were about $25 for a set of 4 when I ordered them which seems a bit steep to me, but they do the job.

These are made from thick steel and are very sharp. they grab the wood good and they are easy to secure.
