a lot of this is based on first impressions and only having use of these parts on my chair for like 3 days.I replaced the wheels on my computer chair with the roller blade type wheels. I am having bad luck with these types of wheels. 1 set lost its bearings. 1 set bent and when they bent they broke welds on the chairs base, which lead me to buy this base. as long as I was having it all apart anyway I swapped the piston for an improved version.so... the wheels add about maybe 2 inches to the height of the chair.this base adds a few inches to the height of the chair as its a bit convex in design. also the fitment of the new piston didn't automatically press half of its depth through the hole, so I get full height there too.all of this adds up to being inches taller than my chair used to be and feeling *very solid* a few days in after its install. when I raise the chair to its fullest, because of the piston... its *very high*. nearly bar stool height. I may have miscalculated the size of piston that I needed.I am going into detail about the other parts because they all need to work together. as I learned, if the wheels fail the base could fail. I am not sure I trust any of these parts to sit in this chair at full height just yet. it could be a nasty tumble.so far everything seems legit. the base is easy to put together and everything went together fairly easily. I am being cautious watching for bent parts and broken welds because there is a danger to parts created for a certain budget (or really ANY budget these days). the welders don't always know how to weld (zero penetration on the last base that came with the chair), amazon listing pages promise "overbuilt durability" that I have yet to experience. I don't have anything bad to say but its too soon to sing praises and I remain skeptical. If I need to update this for better or worse, I certainly will.

The chair in the picture is 15+ years old. It originally came with plastic swivel legs. I was leaning back in it one day and one of the legs broke; sending me into a wood drying rack, which broke and a piece of wood stabbed me in the back. Not wanting a repeat of that action ever again; I decided to buy swivel legs that would NEVER break. This office chair replacement set of swivel legs are rated at 2200lbs. I believe them. I have worked with steal most of my life and this stuff is very well made.

I bought this base to save my over priced chair. I am 180lbs 5ft 11in, I bought a 350lbs chair, it wasnt holding up to my friends. This base saved the day, I also bought one for my friend, saving his chair. This base is beefy af. If you are stout, this base will support. I even have the Roller blade wheels on it, it holds true.

It seems solid, good peices, heavy weight, and it fits my original casters, but you have to put it together which i did not see any information on. We shall see how long the base lasts. I used a drill to put the bolts in instead of the supplied Allen key so the assembly was simple and quick.

Super easy to assemble and works great. For those that are concerned about the 2" dim. Don't worry about it. The opening at the top of the taper in the base is slightly smaller and a 2" tube fits in perfectly and will not allow the tube to bottom out on the cylinder.

So much better than the OE base. I'm certain this beast will outlast the faux leather seat I attached it to!

I bought this to replace a plastic base that cracked under use. That base was rated at 300lbs, but to be fair it was often overloaded with kids and wife piling on top of me while I was in the chair. This base is made of STEEL and rated over 2000lbs so should be up to task without me spoiling their fun. The base was easy to put together in 5 min using the supplied Allen wrench. The standard wheel openings are a bit tight however and prevented seating my wheels just using hand pressure. I had to use a rubber mallet to assist in seating them. One whack per wheel was all it took. Very satisfied with this product. Note, the dimensions on Amazon say it's 28" diameter. It is really 26". Typo? 26" is standard and the same as the base it replaced. EXTRA: I see a lot of people here had a problem getting the old base off. So did I initially. I first tried banging it off with a mallet while rotating the base. No good. I then simply went medieval on it and pulled out a 4" angle grinder with a cutting wheel on it. That made VERY short work of it. 5 min in fact. Just be careful not to hit the piston.

I can't recommend. Rated for up to 220lbs (100kg), I weigh 200lbs and it seems that my weight was sufficient to ruin this base in less than 4 months of use.
