I have shot some other longbows before, but never one that shoots as beautifully and true as this one. My husband calls it "authoritative" which is about right. I put a traditional bear hair rest and plate on the arrow shelf, measured 7" for brace height, added a nocking point, and can shoot with ease at higher than normal longbow speeds, using 28" aluminum and carbon arrows. We are both LH archers and thought 45# might be a bit much, especially for me who shoots a 34# compound bow normally. Surprisingly, we can still shoot it and imagine it as a decent hunting bow, with practice. The craftsmanship is also excellent. Those who do not have a longbow stringer should get one as it doesn't come with the bow and recurve bow stringers might not work. I am not complaining because I had a longbow stringer already. This bow is very easy to string and take down with a simple longbow stringer. It is a beautiful, reasonably priced bow that we will be proud to show off at club events. Thanks Amazon and OMP!

I grew up shooting traditional longbows, all custom, all north of $1000 new....but having recently switched to left handed shooting, I thought I'd give one of these a try in a particular poundage, just to see what it's like before ordering a new custom bow. I'm really impressed, I may actually skip the custom and just shoot this for a while!! The only downfall in construction quality is in the finishing work, a couple of sharp or rough edges on the limbs and on the string grooves near the tips, and a little ding near the rest on the riser, but otherwise fine. It's lighter than most bows I've owned, but if you haven't had the best I doubt you could find anything lacking in the quality here. The wood is handsome and the black limbs are clean and simple. It doesn't bend perfectly, there are a couple flat spots, but again nothing major, it's an inexpensive bow...Shooting wise, the bow is also surprising. I was expecting a lot of hand shock as I've even experienced it on a few of my friend's custom bows, but to my amazement the hand shock isn't bad. The grip is slightly more square than what I'd want on a custom bow, but nothing crazy. My draw is three inches longer than 28", so I get a smidge of stacking (and probably more handshock than average)...my custom bows are only slightly more smooth, not 4 times more, even though they cost 4 times more. The bow shoots dead straight and is quiet even without string silencers. I don't notice any arrow speed difference in this bow versus a custom, it's plenty fast and could be sped up with a faster string. It's a good shooter, period, and especially for the price it's an incredible value in terms of how good it shoots. You could absolutely be just as accurate with this bow as the fanciest traditional bow money could buy, there's no difference there!Keep in mind the bow comes with a string, but to really shoot it you'll need to set it up with a brass or tied on string nock, and you'll probably want a shop to do it unless you know how to measure yourself. You'll also need a bow stringer, and arrows duh (400spine carbon is what I'm using on my 45#), and a glove or tab, and an arm guard.Bottom line, for $185 you don't get a piece of junk, you get a sweet bow.

Very pleasing appearance, nice looking, smooth draw, no hand shock to speak of. Grouping nicely even though I haven taken the time to tune a set of arrows for it. witch leads me to thing this will be forgiving for the new archers. The continuous loop string that comes with it is ok, recommend a fast flight Flemish twist is in my future!Criticisms: The string groves are not the cleanest groves easily corrected with a hand file, nothing to cause wear on the string loops. The draw weight is impressed into wood of the upper fadeout not best thing to see or needed. All in all its a nice bow and I am happy with my perches.
