Worked flawlessly on a Nissan Titan Pro-4X heavy duty spring. Returned the Maddox set as they were too small for my coil spring size.Everyone goes on about these being a widow maker... I used these with confidence.Recommend you use a hand rachet, no need to rush things. Slow and steady wins the race.

These are easily the best built coil spring compressors I have ever used. They feel extremely safe when using, and work very very well. Super sturdy, and the hooks were small enough to fit on smaller coils. I tried three other tools from O'Reilly and harbor freight before I tried these, I will never need to search for coil spring compressors again

I have been using the old school "scary" ones for years, these things are so much better. I am part of a jeep group and help do a lot of the lift kits, these are easier and faster to use, love them.......One thing tho, the parts that hold the spacer bar (if you use it) bend real easy.

This type of spring compressor is available from many different sources but they are all nearly identical and suffer from the same failure modes. I bought the OMT version expecting that they would have a reasonable standard of quality. However, the item received had a bent screw in one of the compressors that caused the unit to bind in operation, and it was promptly returned. I ended up using the rental OEMTools compressor from a local auto parts store, which worked well. After seeing this unit in person and reviewing the 1 star reviews , the common failures include the following: The pin that secures the top spring interface sheers causing catastrophic failure, the internal screw strips or binds, the lower spring interface external threads strip and fail, or the bearing that allows the screw to turn freely fails.

I used it exactly 3 times. The last one was on the springs of my Dodge Ram. Got the old ones out, but when I wanted to put the new and stronger and longer ones in, I had to have multiple trials to position them right. And it got harder and harder to turn every time I had to tighten the tool. Eventually one of them froze completely. I only had one shot to get everything out or else I'd have to risk my life with a blowtorch. Not for tight spaces. Cannot use powet tool to speed up the process. Tossed them today.

Purchased this and a competitor to compare. This product: Threads thick and machined well. Captured bearing as mentioned in another review. Thicker safety bracket with 12.9 screws for the bracket. Anti-slip knurling is the size of your actual hand. Bottom spring clips, 1/8th inch gap in jaws after compressing 1/2 inch diameter spring. Everything mentioned was inferior on competitor model. Competitor: threads were binding and rough on one of the main bolts. Threads cut much thinner. Safety bracket 1/3 the thickness. Grade 8.8 screws. Anti-slip knurling one half of hand size. End of one of the top metal pins was sheared off. 1/4 inch gap in lower jaws after compressing .5 inch diameter spring. Sent competitor back. Hopefully Orion brand holds up! Will update review if there are issues.

I ordered thses to replace my shocks (coil overs) on the front of my 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The worked well. I was a little leary of them becasue the threded part seemed a bit on the small side. I had a look at them after I completed each side and there was no real noticible wear on either spring compressor. I would recommend for the home mechanic, not sure how well they would hold up to constant use but for occasional use mine work great.

At the price these are a good value and they are fairly safe. Having a second set of adjustable spring clamps for the top would make this a lot safer. Overall I’m satisfied and would recommend this to anyone doing occasional suspension work.

Poor quality metal sheared off on minor spring compression. Not impressed at all. Other side held thankfully or I probably wouldn't be giving this review, thus 2 stars for not killing me.
