I bought this kit to tune up a set of used kids skis. I’ll eventually do my own. The edges on the kids skis were rather rusty and dull, plus there were gouges in the ski surface. The instructions were fairly easy to follow. The edge file worked great and really cleaned up all the rust and created nice, sharp edges. The various abrasives and brushes are all nice quality and contributed to a good overall finish. I repaired the PTEX of the ski bottom with an included black PTEX “candle.” I’d recommend doing that in a well ventilated area as it smokes a lot when extinguishing the flame. The included wax and iron are nice and worked well. I used way, way too much wax and learned the hard way. Don’t put much on and you will save time and product. Overall it’s a nicely packaged kit that has plenty of quality tools plus a nice work apron all in a tidy storage case. It’s a good value.

This review is for the UPGRADE package. If you don’t want to try to piece everything together yourself this is a great starter pack. I paid $106 for it and would gladly pay that again for this bundle.I opted to use different wax than that provided. I did use some of this on one board, but for my boys, who prefer a faster run, I opted for a better wax. I honestly cannot comment on the quality of the wax because we don’t use it. But if you know anything about waxing you will know that even a lower quality of wax is better than not waxing your board at all. I will say getting this stuff off was SO MUCH HARDER (literally and figuratively) than a higher quality name brand wax.The iron is good enough. Could be better, could be worse. I have found that I actually have to set mine a little higher than the wax melting temp. It doesn’t hold the temp consistent, it does cool down a bit too much in between it activating and coming back on. It’s nothing that we can’t work around though. You just have to be mindful of what it is doing at all times. Sometimes you need to hit the same small area a couple times until it reactivates, but once it does, get that iron moving again so you don’t ruin your board! The gummy stones are good. They are a nice size and the grit on them is great. I have gummy stones that are from another company, they are half the size of the ones provided in this kit. The ones in this kit are easier to hold onto. The brushes are good. I think their quality would be comparable to most others on the market. They do their job, I have no complaints whatsoever about them. Just make sure you know what you are doing with #1 - it could ruin your board if you don’t k own what it is!! YouTube or google it if you have no clue!!!The edge tuner is so-so. I opted to buy a more expensive one to add to the tool box.The diamond files in this kit seem to be of good quality, so I will use them with the other edge tuner that I got, when the other ones dull. The plastic scraper is good. It does its job. I purchased a second, smaller one from another company to go along with the one in this kit. This one is wider and it is great for your starting passes to get the bulk of the wax and shavings off, but then we switch to the smaller one for a more concentrated, faster scrape job. The one that comes in the kit is great for starting, but I would recommend adding a second, smaller one for finishing touches. The apron, surprisingly, is really high quality. It’s not thin and flimsy. I use it whenever I’m helping my boys do their boards and I don’t feel like changing into grubby clothes for the few minutes that they need my assistance.Overall, as a started kit this one is a great bang for your buck!If you aren’t a professional rider and just need something to keep your boards tuned for the slopes, look no further. This kit has everything that you need to get started and you can add small things here and there over the course of time.Honestly the only thing I changed for normal tune ups (every three snowboarding trips) is different wax.The edge tuner only gets used once a season, twice if they are really rough in their edges; the gummy stones do the maintenance in between. So a replacement edge tuner isn’t even a must, that was just personal preference. The boys have told me that they notice a huge difference between day 1, day 2, and day 3 of a wax job. By trip number 3 they are more than ready to give their boards some TLC.

First one was broken, but they replaced another one immediately, and it’s really good to use, just waxed and toned my two pair of skis and snowboard

Amazing kit. I watched some additional videos on Youtube to get started. It is fun, rewarding, relaxing, and much cheaper to wax your boards/skis yourself. This kit includes all you need.

This is the perfect kit to get you everything you absolutely need to do a full tune up. I’ve used it on 3 different boards now and have zero complaints. Iron works well, scraper is true with a sharp edge, precision sticks seemed pretty good.

I am not an avid skier, but when I go, I like to glide effortlessly. My skis were in dire need of a tune-up, and that goes double for my kids'. Over the course of a single evening, I tuned up four pairs, getting better and more efficient with each. And the results were night and day. The next day, when we hit the slopes, our skis felt brand new. This kit came with everything I needed, it is compact, the instruction are good and everything just worked. One tip - make sure that you give the iron time to come up to temperature before using (it only takes 5 mins) so that the wax gets a good 'drip' pattern that you can go and smooth out.And make sure you put down a drop cloth unless you want to have wax all over your floors :-)From now on, this will be a annual or semi-annual exercise!

This is a great waxing kit. We ski and snowboard so this is really great to have. My husband had to go out and do his skis right away said it was so easy. Great kit for great price

Used it way more than I thought I would. Kept the whole family’s winter gear in check. Great value and works fine. Takes some practice, but it’s rewarding when you get great results. The only thing in the kit that felt really really cheap was the apron, but I don’t know if you would care, most aren’t buying the kit for the apron (I assume).

I am very satisfied with this kit. The iron was reliable and keep temperature easily; the brushes are good quality and the files are adequate. I can't be sure about the edge tuner because I am not proficient at tuning skis or boards but I will assume you will need an upgrade if your looking to do a real quality job? Better wax is preferred but what comes with is fine. I waxed three sets of skis and a snowboard and found the set to work very well.

I am just learning how to repair my skis after I purchased this kit but most of the important items for basic ski repairs appeared to be included with this kit with the exception of a gummy stone (but then the kit may be $20 more if this was included). I waxed a pair and also p-tex repaired another pair so I suppose I've saved $80 so far and would get the cost of the entire kit back if I work on another pair of skis. I did not include the cost for my own elbow grease though because there's certainly many hours of that so please take this into consideration before you buy these repair kits.
