This comes with instructions, but /knowing/ how to do something and actually /doing/ it are very different. I have yet to get it work right. Now, the ratchet bit works a dream. It's the clampy bit that is more difficult. I was wrapping something that was not of a regular shape (certainly not box-shape) so that might have been the issue. I might try again with a box in the future, but for right now it's more trouble than it's worth to me.

A nice system, very hard to crimp bracket.Needs longer handles to make crimping easier

When first received, I put a seal in the crimper, and tried to close it. I could not budge it until I put it on the floor and used my body weight to help me close the crimper. Even though it was obviously lubricated, I re-lubed it with some 90 weight gear oil. That helped. I was then able to close the crimper when using the supplied seals and polypropylene strapping. I then installed some 5/8†seals intended for use with polyethylene strapping and was again unable to close the crimper. It took a 24 inch pipe on each handle for me to operate the crimper. The handles on the crimper are simply way to short.I ran some tests on the strength of the crimped strapping using a hydraulic jack to stretch the strapping to the point of failure.- I tested the supplied seals (5/8â€) with the supplied ½†polypropylene strapping- I tested some ½†seals with the supplied ½’’ polypropylene strapping- I tested some 5/8†seals with 5/8†polyethylene strappingIn all cases, the strapping simply pulled out of the seals before to the strapping itself failed. I have no way of knowing the actual tension applied in these tests, and cannot even tell if the polyethylene strapping failed at a higher tension than the PP strapping (PE strapping carries a strength rating of about 4 times that of PP strapping). The summary of this: I cannot tell if these results are to be expected, or if the crimper is simply not adequately crimping the seals. The one definite conclusion is that the handles on the crimper are much too short.
