A drawing class I was taking required a 13mm soft willow charcoal stick, and though this item is 9mm, the thickest I could find at a reasonable price, it worked just fine for my purposes. The price was reasonable. It arrived quickly, well packaged and all the sticks were whole.

I sometimes get the itch to use the willow charcoal and let loose. This is not for fine detail but id you have done it, or seen it done, it will yeild anazing results. It's not top end charcoal but for practice or playing around, it does a great job!

Learning to sketch and these were the perfect choice. Need to wash hands after use, but that is the joy of art! Gotta get messy to create!

My daughter needed these for her running start art class. They have exceeded what we need them for. They work great, just as described. Great price if you are not really into art and do not want to spend a lot of money, but need these for sketching, I would suggest you get them.

While I love vine charcoal as a medium, I would prefer to break my own pieces....Even though it was in its owns flimsy box inside my pkg of stuff, it was on the bottom & unprotected. Needless to say, I have some pre-broken pieces starting out.Ad far as the purchase itself, I am very happy!, just not with the packaging at the warehouse...
