Well made... allows for the tripod to be deployed at ground level. Allows usage of a variety tripod heads and accessory arms. And worth the cost! A must have if you own a Peak Design tripod.

If you are using a 3rd party head then this is a necessary adapter. Easy to switch out and holds head as expected. Another quality product from Peak Design.

If you need to attach a ball head, Platyball, etc. to a Peak Design Travel Tripod, this Universal Head Adapter is essential. Without it, there's no way to effectively attach a ball head to the tripod - with it you can attach any ball head of your choice. It's sturdy, strong, stable, affordable, and essential to max out the versatility of your Peak Design Travel Tripod.

Peak Design could not supply this critical part by mail and a trip to San Francisco to pick one up was out of the question. Good ol’ Amazon had one. And got to me quickly, unfortunately not the same day. But fast anyway.

In my opinion, this is *THIS* essential accessory for the Peak Design travel tripod. I wish this came with the tripod as you'll find many camera accessories do not fit onto the standard ARCA-compatible plates.I'm also glad it came with the Alan key as the one with the standard tripod is not long enough to securely lock this head into place. I recommend keeping this new Alan key inside of your tripod case pocket.

I love my Peak Design carbon fiber travel tripod, but I use Manfrotto quick-release ball heads on all of my other tripods. This accessory allowed me to mount my Manfrotto head on Peak Design's amazing tripod for seamless uniformity of my camera gear. Thank you, Peak Design!

This is the easiest way to attach a regular head to your PD travel tripod. So if you want a video head, or a regular ball head, this is the way to go. It fits, it works well, and holds all of my various tripod heads. (All of them have 3/8 inch screw mount.)But. This is difficult to install and remove. The original PD head is easy to remove - loosen it, push it over 90 degrees, and unscrew the locking screw using the allen wrench included with the tripod. This adapter is then screwed on by using the same allen wrench through the 3/8 screw from the top -- it's down inside the screw that holds on your new tripod head.That's not so bad, but then there are three tiny locking screws to hold the head in place. These use the smaller Allen wrench, but they are a challenge to screw down - the wrench gets in its own way, so you get 1/3 turn before needing to remove and replace the allen wrench. You'll also need to take the center column out in order to even start tightening the locking screws. Forget about easily and quickly swapping out between the original PD head and a video head.I removed the locking screws, making head swaps faster but the head isn't super tight on the adapter.So, meh. It works but it's pain.

Note: There is nothing wrong with the original Peak Design travel tripods Arca-Swiss tripod head which is beautifully designed. I purchased this Peak Design tripod adapter as I film video and now I can film tilts and pans with a video head.The product comes well packaged with the adapter, a cloth storage bag and a very well made hex key. No instructions are included but there is a video on the Peak Design YouTube channel that clearly shows you how to swap the parts out. This is a simple process and will only take minutes.I'm very happy with this adapter which has let me mount a very lightweight Smallrig video head. The SmallRig video head also makes the tripod 8cm taller which is good as I find the PD travel tripod is a little on the short side.I gave the Peak Design adapter 5 stars as it's fairly priced and is very well made.
