Wax resist is a great aid to potters and ceramicists who want to keep their glazing neat and clean. Wax creates a barrier between the clay and the glaze so it's not absorbed.

You can paint the bottoms to protect your pots from absorbing glaze, and you can also paint designs on your pieces to show off the unglazed clay with negative space.

The wax will burn off at low temperature during the bisque firing process, revealing designs, base colors, or just unglazed pot underneath.

How to Use Wax Resist:

  • Dip your brush in soapy water or fabric softener before using wax resist, and the brush will be easier to clean.
  • The only purpose of the wax is to make it easier for you to wipe the glaze off.
  • The wax will burn off at low temperature during the bisque firing process (approx. 500 degrees), revealing designs, base colors, or just unglazed pot underneath.
  • You can paint the bottoms to protect your pots from absorbing glaze.
  • When you're done, make sure to rinse your brush in warm soapy water. The wax is water soluble so it'll come right off.
  • Now go out there, and have fun!

Wow this is a HUGE improvement from the previous wax resist I used! Had a bit left and just threw it away because I am never using anything else! Can get more defined coverage and it is smooth and not cakey. More on the pot and less left on the brush! So Happy!

I think this wax is GREAT! It is thin and goes on smoothly; very easy to use and easy to clean your brushes. It doesn't gunk up in the jar or become thick and gummy on your brush like the other well known brand that begins with an A and ends with an O. Its perfect for wax resist work. I don't wax the bottoms of my pieces but if you do this would be fine for that as well. Item was well packaged--I had no issues and would totally buy it again.

I was hesitant to order this product because of all the reviews talking about the package leaking, how ever I decided to give it a chance. My package came in a box, which I believe is one of the attempts they made to keep it sealed. they had a sticker around the lid that was meant to keep liquids in, the little seal on the inside of the lid was already loose by the time I got it so it had leaked just a bit before I received it but its just wax so it dried up and wasn't really that much of an issue. The product could use instructions on the label or on a card in the package, but its pretty straight forward, you just apply it where you don't want glaze to go. Its clear so it makes it a little hard to see where you've painted it on so far but it dries so quickly by the time I started to over lap I could see it was even working on the wax's second coat. If you guys could figure out a way to guarantee that it wont leak I believe you'd have a lot more happy customers. maybe cling wrap under the lid in addition to the sticker around the lid and some instructions for those who are not familiar with the product.

The liquid wax is the perfect consistency for a single layer application to prevent glazes for going where it is applied. However a careful and steady hand is also required to keep the wax to where you want it, slips are tricky to remove.
