Installed this together with the PerTronix 40611 Flame-Thrower listed elsewhere on Amazon on my Massey Ferguson MF-165 tractor. Tractor has a Continental engine. Installation was easy. Replaced the existing coil with the 3 Ohm coil listed above. Removed the distributor plate that has the points and cap installed as one piece. Dropped the new plate with the electronic sensor in its place. Mounted rotor sleeve and set gap with the supplied gauge. Put rotor and cap back on and hooked up the 3 wires. Engine fired right up and advance setting was so close, did not have to make any adjustment. Engine runs much smoother now and has more pick up and go.

Product did not work upon installation. Easy to install so no problems there. When my tractor still had no spark I had to pay a mechanic $150 to diagnose that the product itself was indeed faulty. A lot of money spent chasing my tail and having to buy another new one else where. Do not waste your money on this. Save yourself some time and frustration by buying a quality ignition system elsewhere.

it sounds like a dream come true for a very reasonable cost your old gas engine can get the just out of the showroom feel again and that is no bull! I bought this ignition when I was restoring my Massey-Ferguson TO-35 farm tractor. I needed to get the tractor running again quickly because my daughter was about to get married and she wanted the ceremony in one of our fields on the bank of a river. The distributor had worn bushings and the shaft was so loose that the timing drifted all over the place. I spoke to the Pertronx tech and made sure that the ignition was correct for my application. When I bought it, I did so with a little bit of reservation because the reviews were all over the place from it was a piece of junk to it was extremely difficult to wire. Well let me tell you if you can't hook up two wires and make sure the firing order is correct you have no business under the hood. The ignition took all of about 15 minutes to install. All one does is remove the points and the rotor, replace the points with the frame that holds the sensor module, slip the magnetic trigger over the shaft that the points wold ride on and hit the ignition. The tractor fired before it completed one rotation and has done so consistently. The power was completely restored and then some (I didn't dyno test it but it sure feels good)I would not hesitate to recommend this ignition, I am extremely pleased with it. I am planning on installing a Pertronix in my current project: a Jeep CJ2 I'm restoring. One consideration you might want to keep in mind however is that if you think you might sell your vintage vehicle make sure you keep all the original parts you remove, some other collector might want them!

We reversed the battery polarity on a 60s John Deere tractor. When we did that, we had to replace the electronic module that a previous owner had installed. Initially the tractor wouldn't start. We used the troubleshooting that came with the unit and ended up replacing the B+ wire and it worked. Apparently fairly sensitive to voltage drop to the unit.

Old international 544 tractor. It starts faster, runs smoother, no more random backfiring. So glad I spent the cash and put this on my tractor. Bought the same time as the recommended coil, so not sure what made the most difference since I swapped them both out at the same time.

Unable to time the engine as this unit was defective. In addition it cost me $22.98 to return this defective part. I can understand the purchaser paying return postage if they ordered the incorrect item or did not like the item they ordered but being charged to return a defective part in unreasonable. The return policy should reflect this.
