Put this on an old Lincoln sa200 that apparently had the conversion. I wasn't aware that this had been done and with no visible markings on the distributor cap I wasn't sure if I was getting the right part. Once I took the cap off I located the part number stamped to the plate. I attached a photo of the old one to give you a reference. Once I dropped the new one in it cranked right up! So if your looking for the 1542-62 part, this is the right one. (The box underneath is for a coil I bought from Napa, this part came in the factory Pertronix box.)

This is incredibly simple to install and is the one single most important improvement you can make to your vehicle. I have many on other tractors and wouldn't be without them. Makes starts easier and increases power. You wont be disappointed.

What a difference!! Just installed in about 5 minutes and had the timing a little off but this thing fired it right up and idled better than it ever had. With the timing off it would idle at about 300 rpm and sounded so cute. After retiming and resetting the idle, it starts so quickly you just about can’t hear the starter run. I love this product.

It was necessary to replace OEM distributor cap and rotor with different Prestolite/ Autolite units. Pre purchase information was not perfectly clear. The enclosed information And another trip to auto parts cleared up the issue completely.

I installed this to replace the missing breaker plate in a Prestolite IBT distributor on a Continental F163. It fit perfectly and works fine. The only tiny complaint is that the grommet is a little too small for the hole in the distributor, so it's easy to pull it all the way through.

Although Pertronix assured me this was the correct kit to fit my Prestolite IBT-4701A distributor, and even though I bought their recommended cap & rotor, It simply would not fit. The problem was the collar raised the rotor & cap @ 3/16" and would not allow the cap to fit & lock on. I had a lengthy discussion with their tech support but they couldn't resolve the issue. I eventually removed the distributor shaft and turned the shaft down in a lathe until the collar would fit properly and allow reassembly. Then everything worked fine and engine runs great. No idea why the kit didn't fit the original configuration though!
