I bought the flame thrower III coil with a flame thrower distributor to upgrade my ignition on a 69 GTO. After less than 100 miles, my car started misfiring bad when it warmed up and completely died on time while going down the road. After testing everything, the coil was dropping out when it got hot.Amazon support window was closed so I reached out to Pertronix. Anthony S. at Pertronix didn’t give me the time of day to help in any way. Basically told me to contact Amazon that it was their problem. Not only did I get a junk part but now I’m stuck with it without any support. Just saying, you should learn from my mistake of buying Pertronix products.

Used with the Pertornix III and this puts out a very hot spark. Bright blue spark especially with the .007" over std. expanded gap. You must make sure you are getting a true 12V to the coil. If your car has a resistor or a resistor wire installed, you must remove them. This is not difficult to do. The Pertronix III is awesome and works far better than I expected !!!! I will be converting ALL of my vintage cars to this system when my wallet stops bleeding !!

I decided to use oertonix in my 1969 Z28. All original car. You MUST run a 12v ignition switchable voltage to the coil. Otherwise the pertonix will drop out above 4000 RPM on Low voltage. You also MUST use this coil. If u try to use a stock coil! Ohm reading g is too high. Again. Pertrox will drop out at around 5000 RPM. This solved all my problems.

The Pertronix packaging is a little lite/flaky for the weight of the coil.Mine fell out thru the bottom of the box, onto the cement garage floor and chipped the tower a bit.Installed it anyway with the Ignitor 3 ignition module.1974 Olds Delta 88 Royale Convertible has never run so smooth or with as much zip!

Came damaged. Have not tested to see if it works but it has some dents and damage to the paint. The box looks like it has been crushed. I am still waiting on other parts to be delivered before I can test it but other than the damage it looks like a decent product.
