Take the time to research the best moisture content for firewood before you burn. This tool is great for identifying wood that some cord wood retailers slip in that's not seasoned even though they say it is. We have saved hundreds of dollars by purchasing wood that was supposed to be seasoned but wasn't. Works great but if I have one hint, practice with it. Yeah, I know it sounds weird but literally go out side and use it 20-30 so that you get the feel of it. Don't just test one piece, do several and don't do it on just one spot on the wood, do it in a few spots in the same piece of wood and take an average.

Dislike: had to use super small screwdriver to unscrew/open n insert batteries! ANNOYING!Instructions are tiny prints and need magnifying glasses to read. NO info on How To Interpret results on screen! Most important missing info!

This moisture meter has an easy to read display with colour coding to help visualize what information you are seeing. Has just enough test ranges for different woods, construction material, concrete, etc.Calibration is conveniently located in the cap which also protects probes. Have used on hardwood and softwood of different moisture levels and been very happy with how durable it feels being pressed hard into the wood to get a accurate reading.Carry pouch hold tester perfectly and also space for instructions in case you forget what each Mode is good for testing.Great price for much a feature rich and well designed tool.Highly recommend as it was calibrated exactly to the test peramiter of 20.5%.Very happy!

This is a great tool, work fine, reading are spot on, build quality is that of much more expensive models and looks great as a tool, comes in it's own case or bag and is a great addition to the tool bag, the price is very competitive

Great device! Consistent results. My two gripes are 1 the lid is difficult to remove2 no mention of the calibrating procedure
