Designed to complement the violin string set Evah Pirazzi Gold, characterized by its seductive and inspiring sound, Pirastro has developed a perfectly matching rosin. It brings to the fore the full sound spectrum, powerful projection and excellent bow response of these strings. Evah Pirazzi Gold rosin increases the ease of response in the softer dynamic range, and maximises the ability of the instrument to react to bow impulses during fast, virtuosic playing. It allows powerful contact with the strings, draws out the sound evenly and enables clear articulation without harshness. Even right after the rosin has been applied, the bow will afford the player a smooth, supple and satisfying playing experience. Light rosin features very minor formation of dust, with no residues forming on the bow hair and the strike point of the string. Extraction Natural resin was and still is obtained from pine trees during fall and turpentine oil is the product which is gained through its distillation. Pieces of natural resin are heated up in a boiler in order to evaporate water from it while at the same time impure components within the now liquefied resin slowly sink towards the bottom of the boiler. As a last step, the pure liquid resin is skimmed off and then cooled down. Which Rosin should I use? High quality rosin allows for perfect bowing without scratchy sounds, especially if only a thin layer of rosin is applied. The general rule is: • violinists and violists use a harder, dryer rosin • cellists use a medium strong rosin • bassists a softer rosin Another important aspect for choosing the right rosin is the core material of the string that are being used: • steel strings are easier played if you use a hard, dry rosin • for synthetic, gut and gut wound strings use a softer rosin About Pirastro:

This is a very nice rosin, it goes on the bow nicely and the sound difference is stunning. I hadn't realized the rosin expires and the quality goes as it ages. I use Pirastro Evah Pirazzi Gold strings and this rosin brings out the beauty of the strings.

Full warm tone ,good volume, not bright in the lower strings. Last 6+/- months depending on player. 2 week breakin period due to stretch.I always go back to these despite the price

I Have evah gold A+D strings and spiriocore G+C strings, this rosin provides a huge response on these strings it gives a very full rich tone with the strings compared to other rosins

It's a bit difficult getting the rosin out of the box and slightly more-so putting it back in. Otherwise, its quality is about as expected for over-priced rosin from what I can tell (it works exceptionally well on viola and doesn't require too many passes on the bow hairs).

I just received this .I cleaned the 2 bows I have and the wondertone strings on my violin and applied this rising and it is amazing. Smooth clear and brilliant robust sound. Vito.

I'm working on fixing up a cheap violin to be nicely playable and this goes great in terms of improvement in sound quality and brilliance. Much brighter harmonic overtones and clarity on fingered notes. This alone wont make a cheap VSO sound great, but quality rosin is a good step towards getting the tone you want if you're on a budget and cant afford 1500 dollars for an instrument.
