Overall, this is a very well made pocket jig. The best difference over the more established "name brand" version is that this is made of aluminum and will hold up MUCH better. The measurements/scales are well marked and easy to read. This kit also includes two drill bits, which is a nice plus and while it does not come in a storage case, the box it comes in is well made and includes padded dividers/cut outs to keep everything organized. It (the box) is a bit on the large size which is bad because it takes up a lot of space, but good because it is less likely to get "lost" in your workshop (of which everything in mine is!)There are, in my opinion, a few downsides over the "name brand" jig.First, you need to screw in the clamp to hold the wood you are drilling holes in. Not bad per se, but takes a bit longer, especially if you are doing a number of boards of the same size. Other jigs have an adjustable clamp that you set and then just squeeze in place (similar to vice grips).Second, other jigs include a gauge to set the stop collars on the drill bit, based on the size board you are drilling. This jig instructs you to set the end at a specific length, but you are essentially eyeballing the depth. Not bad, but could be better.Overall though, I think this is a well made jig so not taking any stars off for what I feel could be design upgrades, because the fact that this is made out of solid aluminum more than makes up for it.I would recommend this and buy again if needed.

I used this on a 2x4 to get it to connect flush to another piece of wood. This is pretty easy to use--so much so, that you may feel you don't need to pay any attention to the instructions. Don't skip the instructions. You need to make sure you adjust the height of the jig (or you will wind up off center) and the depth of the bit (or your screw may not have anything to hold on to. But do it once and you can toss the instructions after that. I like that it comes with 2 drill bits and an extra-long Phillips bit, not to mention screws and plugs--everything you should need.Only down side is that a 2x4 is about as big of a piece of wood that you can use. I have ofttimes wanted to do something like this on a 4x4, but I don't think that can be done with this jig.

A very well-made tool. Made of anodized aluminum and the fit and finish of the tool are very good. My only complaint is the clamp-down is not a quick clamp. you have to spin the threaded clamp in and out to clamp down your board. not a big deal but if you're doing a bunch of boards can be a pain. then again if you're doing a bunch of boards you should probably get something better than this. This is more for small jobs. price is about average at 35 bucks. comes with a bunch of extras like a couple of drill bits and depth collars. also a few screws and wood plugs.

This "Matework Pocket Hole Jig Kit" is mostly OK in my opinion. The only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 3 is due to the fact that it's made of aluminum, whereas the name brand ones are usually plastic. However, compared to the name brand, this leaves a bit to be desired and as such it will only be a secondary jig in my shop. My biggest issue is that there is no guide for the depth of your bit. Overall, you can eyeball it, but sometimes you need precision. I don't like the hard plastic clamp end and at the risk of losing grip, I will be attaching a felt pad (or rubber one if I can find a spare piece) so that it doesn't mark up my wood. The stop collars do not seem quite as secure as my others and I do not believe the bits are very good quality, either.

I ordered this pocket hole jig for my wood working projects. I have seen them before, but was always turned off by the price, considering how often I would actually use one. I was intrigued by the apparent quality and the affordable pricing of this jig. When I received the jig, I wasn't disappointed. The tool has some gravity and the etchings, in fractional and cm graduations, are easy to see for older eyes. The setup is pretty simple and straight forward. The instructions are thorough and very understandable, unlike many instructions that you get with import tools. It comes with two pocket hole drill bits, with stop collars, and an extra long screwdriver bit. The tool can be used as a stand alone, or mounted to a base via the provided, countersunk holes in the base of the tool. The jig comes with plastic plugs for the pocket holes, and I would have preferred wood, but this is easily remedied if, you have to have wood for some reason If, you've ever wanted a pocket hole jig, but couldn't justify the purchase due to the price and how often you'd use it, this is the tool for you. I give this jig 5 stars.
