This was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to be able to fry stuff outside because when you fry in the house everything gets coated with oil and you can smell it for 3 days. Not to mention for not heating my house up with the gas stove in the summer.I looked at electric skillets because I wanted to be able to control the temperature (I was never good at frying on the stove), but decided the hot plate was more versatile, as I can use any of my own pots. It will fit anywhere from a quart pot to a stock pot, and also has an adjustment where it will only heat the inner ring for the smaller.There's a "fry" setting on this, among others, but you can also adjust the temp with the knob on the front. It worked perfectly - I just made some fried green tomatoes without all the crumbs getting burned on the bottom after three batches.But another thing I love are the safety features - only the burner gets hot. The rest of it - the top, sides and bottom are cool to the touch. The on/off button flashes after it's plugged in, but lights steady when you turn it on. There's a "hot" warning that flashes after you turn it off until it cools, which only takes a few minutes. The side handles are a real bonus, too.Boil time: using a quart of tap-cold water in a 2 qt heavy stainless pot, it took 7.5 mins to simmer, 8.5 mins to a full rolling boil on the high setting.In comparison, on my good gas stove on the power burner, the same thing took 9 mins to simmer, 10 mins to full boil.The directions are in "Chinese" English, but easy enough to understand, and the unit itself is easy to figure out how to use without any instruction.Did I mention it's a GREAT hot plate! There's not a bad thing I could say about it. Buy it, you won't be sorry.

I purchased this several months ago so could cook some rice and beans outside during the summer to save on air conditioning.This is very 'sweet'! It performs fabulously and I am very happy I purchased it.I highly recommend it if you need one!Heats up very quickly and seems to get even hotter than my electric range stove top.It is very sturdy and well built. The burner controls are very easy to use and understand. To set the timer just press the timer button and turn the knob to something other than the default '1' hour.If you have reflective pots like stainless steel, it will take longer to heat up but the corroded copper bottom pots heat quickly.

Got this to use on outside of my boat. And I love it. No heat inside to deal with. I have cooked and boiled and fried foods on it. Works great. It gets hot 🔥 in just a minute. But what I expected. It's easy to use. Good value for the money. Daughter got her one too!.

Works great but hard to see the indicator lights showing what the settings are, and the "buttons" that control the extra/special settings are easily accidentally triggered. You have to turn out lights in the room to see what settings are turned on. If you accidentally hit one of the extra setting buttons, you have to turn off the lights to fix the settings. The easiest way to fix the settings if you know what power level you want is to hit the power button to turn off, then hit power to turn back on, then hit the burner button about an inch to the right of the power button (which should load up the last setting, inner coil only / outer coil only / both coils, 2 lights for both coils). I use both coils, so I am looking for 3 lights. and then turn the dial to the power level you desire. Once you see the correct number of lights and the power level, you can turn the kitchen lights back on.

THESE are JUNK. I ordered 2 of these cook plates. From the first time I used them, they overheated after being on for about 20 minutes. They turn themselves off and would need to cool off before using again, which would take an hour or more. So frustrating! I did not try them out until after the return window closed, so I wasted my money.Because they were useless to me, I ordered another type of cook plate that was not digital and had a solid cast iron burner. They were only $2 more than these and they work perfect. They get hot enough to boil, stir fry and sauté. I can cook with them for more than an hour with No overheating.I wish I could return these and order more of the cast iron ones.

I’ll use this with our solar generator during power outages. I tested it out and it boiled water quickly and was simple to clean.

This item this has several controls which are touch sensitive buttons. However they are not clearly labeled and are engraved in the same background color as the panel. It is nearly impossible to see the labels.
