Portasol products are made in Ireland and we manufacture all our own plastic and metal components in our plant in Co. Carlow. I put the PPt-6 ,PPT-7, and PPT-8 for my P2C. They are nice tips, but expensive for a consumable when the soldering iron with a tip is the about the same price as 2 tips. The 7 is a much more usable general purpose tip for automotive wiring then the ppt-6 the P2C comes with. The 8 works well for larger automotive connections like when soldering a 4 ga wire for ring terminal. I hope the larger tips last longer - the stock PPT-6 i burn up within a year with only a couple projects under its belt.

Just like all Weller products, the tip is well made and works fine.I just wish they weren’t so expensive and hope this one lasts longer than the original.

Sadly this tip doesn’t come in the standard P2KC kit and is about right for small to midsize automotive wiring (the 4.7mm tip is better for larger). I’ve found the tip the kit comes with to be a bit too small to heat up non-shielded butt connectors and some wires, so I’ve resorted to the hot knife prior to purchasing this.

My portasol started to fail to light, thought maybe the whole thing was bad, but I bought this tip and the iron works like new again. This is a good size for doing anything but the more delicate board work. But I would highly recommend an electric digital one for that kind of work instead.

The Portasol PPT-13 Pro Piezo Hot Blow arrived well packaged and has a nice high quality appearance. The main attraction of this add-on tool for the Portasol plastic welder is the ability to reduce heat shrink without worrying about having to connect a heat gun. The attachment easily slides over the tool and is very intuitive in it's setup. I wouldn't call the add-on a necessity, but if you do a lot of electrical/wire work it's nice to have.
