I'm using this more as a tool for checking alignment on my mini lathe than discrete measurement of differing parts. So far it's worked great, seems to be pretty accurate when compared to my inexpensive digital dial indicator. Also makes setup much simpler as I can use it from different angles on my magnetic base.

This is obviously one for fine indicating, not large differences. I got it for use on my lathe, and in the first pic you can see it comes with a couple of different ways to hold it (the bits in the round holes up front), and it works well. It is smooth in movement, and the ball runs nicely. In the second pic you can see it on a magnetic arm on my lathe, where it will spend most of it's time, maybe occasionally moving to the mill.

Got indicator calibrated at work and was told it ran out .003 consistently over multiple lengths first day I had it. It came straight out of the box and it was already out
