I received the new case for my Finke Descant horn yesterday. I'm delighted to state that my horn fits in it perfectly!It seems to be made of sturdy and long-wearing material but I can't attest to that until I've used it for several years. I especially like the storage space on the outside of the horn. The storage space offers pockets for music, tablet computer, zippered mouthpiece case, pencils, and it will accommodate a standard and a brass stopping mute.The EXTERIOR measurements of the case are as follows: (This is not an official measurement from the manufacturer, but done by using my own ruler. I place no warranty on the accuracy.) Along the bottom of the case, the longest part: 23.5 inches. That would be the measurement from the bottom of your horn bell to the end of the mouthpipe--the longest measurement of the horn. Along the side opposite the bell, from top to bottom, the case measures 18 inches. The bell diameter is 14.5 inches. These measurements should encompass the longest and largest parts of any horn, so if your horn is under those measurements, it should fit. I hope this helps others who want to make sure your horn fits!The handles and backpack straps seem like they will wear well and not tear from the the fabric. Again, this is on initial inspection only. I especially like the clever way to slide the backpack straps into a pocket so they're out of the way and not dragging along outside the case when not in use.The padding of the case is great for a gig bag. You could not drop the horn from a tall building, or drop a cement block on it and expect the horn to survive, but then I'm not planning on either of those tests. It seems it will protect the horn with normal diligence and awareness by the user.Thanks for the thoughtful design of a very functional horn case.

Being a brass musician for 15 years, I became sick of bulky hard cases that are awkward to carry on my side, especially as a taller person. It never occurred to me to look into backpack cases for my horn because I have a fixed bell.I found this bag on Protec's website originally, but an older 'platinum' model. I searched far and wide for that model, and it ended up being discontinued. I was very disappointed, but then saw this newer version and ordered it immediately.First off, I love the versatility; you can rock this as a standard carry, a backpack, or a sling. I have a Yamaha horn, and it fits perfectly (I was worried about this because the older platinum series noted Yamaha fit specifically, while this doesn't). There's plenty of compartment space, I store my music, hercules stand, mouthpieces, cleaning supplies, and oils.Unfortunately, within a month of ownership, I found some stitching splitting apart. Thankfully, it hasn't gotten worse, I will sew it back at some point. See images.

My Yamaha double horn fits perfectly. It's much lighter than my hard case. The back pack straps are comfortable enough, and I like that there's two handles so that anyway I pick it up, I have a handle near. The pockets are roomy, I've been able to pack all my practice stuff: a binder, a pencil case, my slippers, my horn support. Only thing left to see is durability, but I'm not too worried, it seems very well made.
