I purchased this block to sharpen a cheap set of linocut tools. It felt like extra money at the time but it's saved me money by being able to properly care for my carving tools. The block is great and used after sharpening stones has helped my tools last so much longer.

Started lino cutting this year and had been using a second hand set of carving tools. This kit was recommended by a friend and WOW does it make a difference in my line quality. Lots of tutorials out there to see how to use it and the package even comes with a little instructional packet! my blades are much sharper not and i don't have to put so much force in when carving, which makes the whole process feel safer and less labor-intensive.

The leather seems little thin. But does what it's supposed to do. Strops well for small cutting tools.

This is a very handy tool for toning up your gouges--inside and out. It comes with a stick of strop compound. There is also flat leather strop on my reverse side for toning up your detail knives. I use mini-gouges a lot in carving small figures, and sharpening them was a challenge until I got this tool.
