My shower arm BROKE off in the wall. I had a heck of a time getting the broken piece out. Tried an easy out NOPE, used a hack saw blade to cut the piece in two locations then tried the easy out again, NOPE. Then tried a standard 1/2 NPT tap but it wouldn't go in. So I used a 3/4-10 tap and that worked to get the majority of the broken piece out. Then I ran the standard 1/2" NPT tap but it wouldn't go in deep enough. This TAP I would consider a BOTTOM tap and it worked perfectly. Make sure you use oil even with the brass fitting in the wall. This tap worked great, and I was able to install a new stainless shower arm. Do not hesitate to purchase this tap.

The sprinkler pipes around my house are galvanized steel pipes and the fitting that you screw in the risers for the sprinkler heads had become so badly corroded that the plastic rises pipes had become impossible to screw in anymore. This tap with almost no effort makes the threads like brand new.But I didn't wanna have to dig a big hole to have enough clearance for the T-handle wrench so I got some square pipe stock and an old square punch to extend the reach for the tap so I don't have to dig a big hole. This is working out even better than I hoped for.

I accidentally stripped out the in-wall plumbing fitting on a shower head when trying to remove the shower head from the wall. This tap and an extension allowed me to reach the stripped out brass fitting in the wall and repair the threads on it so I could install the new shower head leak free. I was so glad that I didn't have to tear into the wall to replace the plumbing inside the wall from the mixer valve in the shower.

My sprinkler heads get knocked off by the dogs rough housing. This cleaned up the threads on the in-ground plug so I could get the new fitting screwed in properly.

The 3/4 NPT tap was of excellent quality at a reasonable price.

I bought this to repair the threads where an older shower arm had the threads sheared off inside the wall causing a leak in the wall. I cleaned the threads with this 1/2 inch NPT pipe tap and then inserted the new arm. I needed a lot of Teflon tape to create a seal but that could have been due to damage in the threads or the pipe tap deepening the threads. Happy ending as the leak is stopped. The pipe tap is sharp and good quality. I had purchased another size of a different brand that wasn't nearly as sharp. My only complaint was that the square end doesn't fit snug in any size socket. I needed to insert it inside the shower arm opening so I ended up wrapping the square end in tape and jamming it in an 18 mm deep socket which held enough to get the job done.

Ordered the 3/4 NPT one, got to bite very well on first turn, makes it easy to start straight, feels like it’s well machined. Unfortunately it’s not coated or cobalt M35, so yes, I did managed to break some teeth out of it, but that was after making threads into 4 pieces of 1/4 inch thick stainless 304. Everyone who tried to tap into stainless knows how hard it is, as hard as cast iron if not more, so yeah, I’m impressed that such a low price tap did manage to do the job. I’ll buy another one just for normal work!
