I was having problems with too much water entering our rain barrel and just overwhelming it along with the overfill drain on it. I wanted something to divert some of the water from the gutter at a slower rate. This is exactly what I needed and it adjusts so you can let more or less water through it. Install is simple just two cuts on your downspout and it slides together, no screws needed and it does not leak. One or two good rains and it filled up nicely. It does NOT come with a drain hose so I took this diverter to the hardware store and matched a hose for it. I think it was 1 & 1/2in inner diameter and I went with clear so I can see the water going though it. Remember to keep the red cap for off-season, you just slide the hose off and cap it to “turn it offâ€.

It was stupid of me not to realize it was the wrong size for my down spouts.Just wanted to submit this review so other folks wouldn't make the same mistake.The size is clearly marked on the product, I just didn't even REALIZE there weredownspout tubes smaller than mine, so I never checked it before purchase!That was my bad which is why I left it at 5 stars. Can't downgrade it for my mistake.

It does divert the water fine, but there's no seal to make sure it doesn't just overflow outside of the downspout during heavy rains.Also (biggest peeve), I had to take it apart and clean out all the leaves this spring because there's nothing to KEEP the flap up when it's not in use. So the flap fell down, trapping 6 inches of leaves in the downspout above the diverter.I will use a zip tie to secure the flap to the screw, but this is just a warning that there's a flaw with the product design.

A complete waste of my money! Cheaply made. The amount of modifications I had to make was ridiculous. Truly a buyer beware! Not an ounce of metal in the construction of this junk! I'm betting it won't last one winter. I live in the Mid-Atlantic region where the winters are mild, compared to the rest of the country. I got what I paid for...garbage! AVOID THIS PRODUCT...or roll the dice...believe this: you WILL regret buy this trash.

This part is made strong and appears to be very durable. Fits standard size gutters. Does not fit large size down spout tubes.
