Instructions were helpful with instillation, with both pictures and written guidance, including the bolt torque needed. Most complaints I saw concerned the trouble of putting the bumper/attachment bolts back in. If you use the recommended 6 inch socket extender it allowed for plenty of room to attach the bolts, (I used a 4 inch extender with a deep well socket.) I had more problems attaching the step to the step attachment arm than anything else, and this was due to me rushing the process and not noticing that the nuts slide back into the slots and need to be realigned ( I used a nail and it went really quick after that. Hope this helps, and I like being able to easily step into the bed of my truck. Seems very well built and to me looks just like the OEM one but much less expensive. Time will tell how it holds up but for now I'm very happy with it.

Good product but was not DYI. I assembled the unit, and removed the 2 bolts from my 2012 Tacoma. I just couldn't do the actual mounting, too tight and hard to crank. Took to a local tire shop and it took them about 40 minutes. They were struggling a bit too even though they had the truck up on a lift and all kinds of pro tools.

It's not difficult to install as mentioned by some of the reviews. The bumper bolts were tight, I used a 1/2" breaker bar for removal. I also used a 6" extension during installation and it was a breeze. The steps seems sturdy and makes getting into the bed a lot easier. Great accessory for the price.

Install was easy. Once completed, per instructions, I lowered the step by hand and stepped on to it, to test it... The plastic step immediately snapped into 3-4 pieces. I weigh 225 max.

I have tried the tailgate ladder. Always seems to be in the way. This hidden step is way better. It tucks away when not in use. It is never in the way. It has never fallen, even on rough roads. It is built solidly and fits my Tacoma perfectly. Great instructions that are easy to read. I highly recommend this product.

What I thought would be a simple job, turned out tough. It's not due to a design flaw, but a combination of having to hold the step while trying to thread the bolts, and the awkward body position(s). I tried using a jack stand to hold the step. That was a no go. The bottom bolt in particular was hard because the area around the bolt is confined.Still, this is a cool addition to my Tacoma.
