- Remove the dust cap and connect the vfl to the fiber optic cable.
- Press the button once to activate the continuous mode. Press again to activate pulse mode. To turn off the vfl, press the button again
- Identify the places where the red light appears on the fiber optic cables: you have identified a fault!

My husband added this to his networking toolbox. As the primary networking person for our home and a couple rental properties in the area, these tools are vital to be able to test and reoutfit the places when needed. Some of the crews that setup in the area treat these cables like trash, so it's important to test each cable to ensure that they are setup correctly and that there are no breaks along the way. The light works for the smaller projects that he works on, so I've got no complaints about it. The price was not awful for the tool received.
