The METALSHIELD protective coating process is a three step finish consisting of a rust inhibiting primer, dipped E-coat electrostatic coating to insure total finish coverage and finally an outer powder coat finish for durability. The METALSHIELD process is an OEM compatible finish providing the best corrosion protection over brands that use only powder coat on their products. Install time is an estimated 25 minutes and requires 13mm and 7/8" wrenches. 2WD models only. Diesel engine models only.

I purchased this hitch because it is almost impossible to find a good bumper-mounted bicycle rack these days. By adding this hitch to the front of my truck, I am now able to choose from a number of different type of hitch-mounted bike racks for the front of my truck. When I pull my camp trailer, I can take along up to four bikes now, and put them on a front-mounted rack. The hitch was fairly easy to mount, but will go on a lot faster with two people. The whole installation took a little over an hour. My truck is a Ford, and required dropping the stabilizing spring bars on each side of the front of the frame. The written instructions were easy to follow, and the hitch went on as it was supposed to. I should have done this years ago.

after installation i noticed the torsion bar bracket does not secure the rubber bushing. i'm going to have to make a shim to place between the frame and the rubber bushing to correct the problem. the manufacturer should provide the shims with the hardware.
