I recently repaired our refrigerator and wanted to test the fruits of my labor. I had some cheap mechanical thermometers that were giving me ok readings, but I wanted something that could track high and low temperatures over a given time period, so I bought this unit.I was initially skeptical about the radio connection between the base and the sensors since the refrigerator has double metal walls, but that turned out not to be a problem. Unlike other reviewers here, I had no problem adding AAA batteries to the base and sensors. It was very easy. To the person afraid to use his rechargeable batteries: rechargeable batteries are less affected by cold than are standard alkalines, so your concerns were unnecessary. I have been using the unit for about a week, and it has been working like a charm. It is easy to configure, read and reset the high/low readings. It has a backlight if you need it, so can be read in the dark if necessary. I am thinking of buying another for my basement refrigerator.

I have been using this refrigerator thermometer for over 2 months now. It has been very useful in helping to get the refrigrator temperature settings set up optimally. The 24 hour temperature high and low readings are especially useful. The temperature readings corresponded exactly to both of my mechanical thermometers which I used for reference. Be aware that the battery cover is very tight - I used a small thin knife blade to assist in popping it open.

Good solution to keep an eye on those storage refrigerator/freezer. Can see temps with a simple glance.2 issues that aren’t deal breakers for me but should be aware.1) Opening the battery compartment on the sensor is difficult. I had to use a prying tool to get mine open.2) Occasionally, the freezer sensor will read an erroneous 40 degree temperature and then correct back to the normal near 0 temperature. This doesn’t set off the alarm because the glitch doesn’t last more than 2 minutes, but it does mess up the maximum value for the freezer history. Maybe I need to reset the sensor, but this is what I’ve observed and can live with it.Update: I think the 40 degree glitch happens when I enable the freezer alarm. I’ve turned off the alarms, the visual temperature is enough for me.

Got the thermometer to get an alarm for our new freezer in the basement. This one works great, I have one sensor in the freezer and the other one in a separate refrigerator. I looked at a lot of different kinds of freezer alarms and I am glad I picked this one. The receiver is located next to my computer upstairs so I can keep an eye on it. The screen size is perfect, not too small or too large.

Ordered for my daughter's college dorm refrigerator because she needs to monitor temps for medication. Easy to set up, use and not an obnoxious alarm if out of range. Would buy again!!

Its been in service only 4 days and it's working perfectly. I'm a bit skeptic about freezer sensor protecting battery from freezing as this will cause sensor stop working. I'll update my review if it fails.
