If you're on the lookout for a great marine radio, you should definitely consider this one. This handheld floating radio is perfect for boaters and water lovers, packing a lot of power and awesome features.Performance-wise, I've had a really positive experience with the RM22. It works smoothly, providing clear and loud communication, which is super important in emergencies on the water. The noise-cancelling microphone is a game-changer, cutting out background noise and making sure messages come through crystal clear, even in rough waters. One of the coolest things about the RM22 is that it can float. I tested it out, and it did exactly what it promised—stayed afloat and easy to grab. This is a big deal because dropping a radio overboard can be a disaster during emergencies, and the RM22 takes that worry away. The backlit LCD display is another thoughtful feature, making it easy to read in low-light conditions—perfect for those early morning or late-night trips. It's also really easy to use, so you can make quick adjustments without any hassle. With its 2200mAh battery, the RM22 has proven to be super reliable during longer outings. I haven't had any issues with the battery life so far, adding an extra level of reliability to a device meant for emergencies. This radio delivers on its promises with great performance, features tailored for marine use, and a user-friendly design. I have no real complaints at this point, and it's given me peace of mind knowing I have a reliable way to communicate while out on the water. If you're looking to boost your safety gear, this radio is a really great and affordable investment!

Wanted to like this radio but I did a quick water test in a cup and it started malfunctioning. Returned for a refund.

Although I have a technician amateur radio license and a few handheld HAM radios which can listen to the marine VHF bands, I was looking for a fully waterproof/floating radio to take while ocean kayaking, and this seemed to be a good option. It was easy to set favorites for the local marina's communication channel and use the scanning function to monitor for transmissions on multiple channels. I'm able to receive transmissions from the marina even when I am a couple of miles inland from the coast. While doing some research on this radio, I found a youtube video which compared the radio with the Icom M37 and they appear to be physically identical, including compatibility with batteries (probably right out of the same factory?) and that demonstrates the value of this radio, since it appears to be selling for less than half the price of the Icom M37 at the time of this review. It has all of the usual features you would expect in a marine VHF handheld including squelch adjustment, kepad lock, scanning of priority channels versus full scan and ability to watch two or three channels. A nice function is the "Vibration draining" mode which uses sound waves to drain water from the speaker after the handheld gets wet/dunked.I would recommend that you keep a copy of the manual handy (and download a copy of the PDF manual to your phone or another device ahead of time before you need it) because it has a pretty well written English description of all of the features and settings that you can use when setting up the radio, and if you need to change things down the line.So far the battery life has been quite good, losing less than a bar after a day of scanning on the water. The charging cradle and handset has an interesting feature where if the handset is in the charging cradle but the cradle is not powered or suddenly becomes unpowered, the handset will start beeping periodically and flashing the screen, and this will notify you if your handset is not charging and staying charged when you expect it.After about a month of use, overall I can't find significant faults with this radio which would merit removal of a star for my uses, and I expect to receive quite a few years of service from it.

I've enjoyed learning about marine radios lately. This Retevis provides some nice features like scanning and is a good value for your dollars. The display is large and clear. The antenna is removable so you can use a big antenna up on a mast. That should give me some crazy good range!

The battery stays charged for a long time. The performance is pretty decent I think the rain could be a little bit longer but it's not bad for the price.
