This sphagnum moss is awful. It molds quickly. It's full of sticks. It is just terrible substrate! Save your money, save your time, do not order this. It is no good! I purchased it for plants. I have tried sterilizing it different ways after the first time I used it for trying to propagate, it quickly molded, it's not even good for compost!

Great moss. I use this for my ball python enclosure, and it retains moisture very very well. It is also a great price, especially since you get so much moss out of one brick. I especially like how its not dyed like many other brands of moss. I will continue to buy this for my ball python enclosure.

I buy moss on a weekly to monthly basis for all of my house plants. Some brands are better than others. This is a pretty great brand. We'll buy it from them again just wish the quantity was higher.

This product has a lot of negative reviews. I didn't see them until after I received this produce. I am here to see if they are true.MOLD-I am currently doing a mold test and will update in a few days. The moss is in a container that has some small holes for ventilation and the lid isn't full on to allow even more airflow.MISLEADING LISTING-This I can say is true. It is not a brick. As someone else said, it's the size of a small, VERY THIN paperback book. Super super condensed. When I opened it, it didn't stay together. It kinda crumbled. I can say that from the small chunk I pulled off, it did rehydrate to a decent amount.STICKS IN MOSS-This is also true. Lots of tiny sticks and hay. Smelled like hay when dry and just smelt weird after I hydrated it.I have used moss by Thrive and have never had mold issues. Sometimes there is a stick but it's no problem to pull out since they are long and not tiny like the ones in this moss. Buy a better moss and always read the lowest reviews before ordering something online!I hope people will see this review before ordering so they can save their money and get a good brand.

Da ich eine große Orchideen Liebhaberin bin und es meinen Pflanzen so angenehm wie möglich machen möchte,habe ich meine 8 Orchideen schon vor zwei Jahren von ihrem holzigen Substrat befreit.Direkt nach dem Kauf entferne ich auch die Stäbe.Es entspricht nicht ihrer natürlichen Lebensweise in Töpfe gequetscht,und angebunden zu werden. Wer sich mit der Lebensweise der Phalaenopsis beschäftigt weiß,das sie als Epiphyten oder Aufsitzpflanzen leben, ähnlich unser heimischen Misteln.Allerdings leben die Orchideen anders wie die Misteln in friedlicher Symbiose mit Ihrem Wirtsbaum. Eigentlich geht es ihnen nur ums Licht,deshalb möchten sie so hoch hinaus.Sie nehmen Nährstoffe und Feuchtigkeit ausschließlich über ihre Luftwurzeln auf. Auf der einen Seite benötigen die Wurzel genügend Licht und genügend Feuchtigkeit. Das übliche Orchideen Substrat das Rindenmulch ähnelt, ist also lediglich ein Mittelweg,aber keine dauerhafte Lösung. Orchideen wachsen am Naturstandort im tropischen Regenwald auf Bäumen, dort können ihre Wurzel halt finden,indem sie unter die Rinde wachsen,oder in eine Flechte oder in ein Moos hinein. Keinesfalls wachsen Orchideenstängel nur strack nach oben, sie streben natürlich zum Licht,aber sie wachsen auch mal "kopfüber". Ihr Einfallsreichtum um mit ihren Wurzeln halt zu finden, ist beeindruckend. Jetzt kommt dieses Sphagnum Moos ins Spiel. Angefeuchtet entfaltet es sich und saugt sich voll wie ein Schwamm. Es duftet angenehm,sowohl trocken als auch im feuchten Zustand,es ist unfassbar ergiebig. Es wird als gepresster Block geliefert, daß Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist absolut in Ordnung. Die Qualität des Mooses ist gut.Ich habe meine Orchideen überdies ganz locker in das feuchte Moos gesetzt, eigentlich eher vorsichtig eingepackt,wichtig dabei ist, daß die Luftwurzeln außerhalb des Topfes sein müssen. Ich persönlich finde es sehr hübsch wenn die Luftwurzeln wild über den Rand hinaus wachsen. Da das Moos sehr viel Feuchtigkeit speichert, müssen die Orchideen weniger gestört werden beim versorgen. Ich besprühe sie alle drei bis vier Wochen mit einem Flüssigdünger den ich mit Wasser verdünnt habe, auch die Blätter. Das Moos saugt einen Teil der Feuchtigkeit auf, und so schaffe ich ein gutes Microklima im Topf. Das Moos sieht zudem viel hübscher und feiner aus, als dieses grobe Granulat...natürlich stehen auch meine Orchideen im Topf, aber manche blühen ständig, wie man auf den Fotos sieht,was mich bestätigt. Da ich ihre Stängel auch nicht anbinde und nur im Notfall schneide, wachsen sie wunderschön in alle Richtungen. Ich mag diese wilde & ursprüngliche Art. Gerne reiche ich Fotos nach... ich hoffe daß ich ein wenig Inspiration liefern konnte, und bedanke mich für das Lesen meiner Rezension..

Wir haben das Moos für das überwintern unserer Schildkröten gekauft. Es ist sehr ergiebig, hält super feucht und ist weich. Unsere Schildkröten können sich super darin verbunddeln.

Was ich positiv bemerken möchte das das moss nicht schimmert und man echt einiges an Volumen bekommt meine Schnecken lieben es es macht ein schönes Klima im terrarium und eine super Luftfeuchtigkeit

Das Moos sollte als Teil der Rankhilfe meiner Kletterpflanzen dienen. Der Preis war etwas günstiger als bei anderen Anbietern, weshalb ich mich dafür entschieden habe. Im Endeffekt muss ich mich einigen meiner Vorredner anschließen. Die Qualität lässt absolut zu wünschen übrig - in diesem kompakten Moosziegel ist definitiv nicht nur Moos, sondern auch sehr viel Stroh, was man erst erkennt, wenn man das Moos zur Verwendung mit Wasser aufbereitet. Damit kann der Verkäufer natürlich einen günstigeren Verkaufspreis als die Konkurrenz erreichen, aber gleichzeitig sorgt es einfach nur dafür, dass das Moos sofort zu schimmeln anfängt, wenn da irgendwelche organischen Materialien reingemischt wurden, um ein höheres Volumen zu erzielen. Ich kann die Rankhilfen und das Moos direkt in den Müll werfen und mir von einem anderen Anbieter reines Moos bestellen. Ein Paradebeispiel von: "Wer günstig kauft, kauft zwei Mal." Wirklich enttäuschend. Am liebsten würde ich das schimmelige Moos direkt zurückschicken.
