This is the best aerator we have found for our pond. Our pond is small, but very deep and lined with clay. Every other aerator we have tried has gotten clogged with clay after just a few weeks. The design of this device is what makes the difference. It has “fingers†that stand up. Air is diffused through slits in the fingers. This design keeps the diffuser out of the clay. In addition, we mounted it on a semi-flotation plate to compensate for the weight of the aerator. It has been in the water for 4 months and is still working as well as the day it was installed. One year update: This aerator has worked perfectly since the day it was installed. It never needs cleaning. Every other aerator we have tried needs to be pulled up every month or two because they clog up with clay. This product is great. Highly recommended.

I have a pretty small pond, about 20 x 20 feet with the deepest spot about 4ft. My Koi's are having lots and lots of babies and I want to make sure there's plenty of oxygen in the water. I also wanted aeration during the winter so my pond doesn't completely freeze. I've been running an Ecoplus 793 GPH pump with a 6 inch air stone. It's worked great but I wanted something a bit bigger. So I decided to try this Rootscap aerator.First, this thing is big. Much bigger than in the picture. The base is about 5 inches round and almost 3 inches thick. There's a 3/8 barbed connector at the base. Protruding out of the base are 4 13 inch long perforated rubber tubes, about 1.5 inches in diabmeter. Connecting it to the pump is easy, I just used a 3/8 ID sinking tube, connect it to the barbed connector and secure with a hose clampl. Tossed it in and, as advertised, it landed right side up.In use, I'm very happy. The bubbles are a bit larger than an airstone, but still pretty small. Nothing like an open hose. I think there's less resistance as well. I don't have an apple to apple comparison, but looking at the picture below, the large bubble are from the Rootscape. The small are from the airstone. The Rootscap is about 1ft deeper as well in this part of the pond. The pump for the Rootscape is a 1030 GPH pump, the airstone is 793 GPH. The output from the Rootscape is more than what would come out of 4 airstones. There's definitely less flow resistance from the Rootscape due to larger pores.Overall, I like it.3 year update...holding up great. I run these alone with the Matablo round disc aerators....the round disc aerators clog up over time....decreasing air output and putting more work load on the air pump. These don't clog...even when I turn off the air for months...They put out great air all the time. I've replace all my round disc aerators with these and are much happier.

Would not buy another as my current aerators put out as much bubbles as this

This aerator does an amazing job of moving air to create bubbles. I had no idea how my old one was failing until I sat this one in my pond. The catfish, bream and bass are thanking me.

It has lasted about a year and kept a good size hole from freezing over on a quarter acre pond.

This purchase was a disappointment. The aerator, even though fairly heavy and substantial, is fragile where the individual pieces meet. It lasted in my pond for 30 seconds. The little aerating hoses are attached to the base with tiny and weak zip-ties. One of them came off just by touching it.One of the blue threaded connectors broke off the moment I tossed the aerator into my pond for the first time. The second connector broke off when I pulled the aerator out of my pond (right away because of the first connector). It's all made of plastic, including the hose connector and all threaded parts. Except for the white base, the overall construction is very weak. Overall, it is very expensive for what this is.I'm not sure how one might aerate anything bigger than a koi pond with it. It feels like air pressure needed to move enough air to aerate a pond will destroy this aerator. But I was unable to verify this, because it broke before my air pump could do anything.

Purchased Dec 23, it's now June 24. I've used less than 6 months. The barb that allows you to connect an air hose to it snapped in half. Currently trying to determine if this is something that can be replaced. If not, diffuser will be now useless.

I replaced both my 7" air-stone bubblers with the Rootscape Large Pond Aerator. What a difference ! They produce strong aeration bubbles, very small, and way more than the typical air stones did. Also, they apparently require no maintenance to keep clean, but time will tell. (I didn't like having to soak the air stones in muriatic acid to clean them every year or so). I am very impressed with these aerators and the pond is getting way more oxygen now, with increased water movement and small air bubbles. My pictures show bubbles with the Rootscape Aerator, with the existing air-stone bubbler, the old air-stone and my HiBlow HAP120 aerator, and finally the Rootscape Aerator as it looks unpacked.

Made a pole and holder for it, sunk to the bottom, just off the bottom. Never an issue.

These are 3d printed garbage, the nipple fitting is plastic and broke very easily, this should be a brass fitting. The main housing is starting to crack as well. Do yourself a favour and make your own - dont waste your money on these.

The box looked fine but the bottom of the unit was broken and chipped. I will test to see if it is in a spot to leak air and update my review after. I may return the item in any case.

The plastic ends on the hoses were all broke, due to the small window of time I had, I didn't have time to send it back, so I used it anyways. A warning to all "DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK"
