I had high hopes for the RP46074 Shower Cartridge after reading many positive reviews. I recently bought an old house and was in the process of renovating everything, including the plumbing. One of the most frustrating issues was a leaky shower valve. After searching online, I found this cartridge and decided to give it a try, especially since the price was significantly lower than OEM options.Installation was relatively easy, thanks to the straightforward instructions included. However, I did run into a couple of challenges. First, it’s crucial to flush out any old debris from the pipes before installing a new cartridge, especially if your plumbing is older. I followed the advice to have someone help me hold a bucket while I flushed the lines, which helped prevent any issues with clogging the new cartridge.Once I installed the RP46074, I was initially pleased with how it fit. However, I quickly discovered that the hot water limiter needed to be adjusted to get the right temperature. It was a simple adjustment—just pull and turn—but it was still something I had to figure out. I can see how someone less experienced might find this frustrating.While I didn’t experience any leaks, I noticed that the water temperature fluctuated quite a bit at first, which was a concern. After fiddling with the installation a few times, it seemed to stabilize. I had hoped for smoother performance, akin to the OEM parts I had used previously, but this cartridge didn’t quite measure up in that regard.Another point to consider is that I had to use the old seals and springs from my previous cartridge. The RP46074 didn’t come with everything I needed to complete the installation seamlessly, which was disappointing. After spending a bit more time getting it all right, it finally worked without any significant issues. However, I can't ignore the initial frustration I encountered during installation.In the end, while the RP46074 has been working fine for several weeks now, I can’t say it’s been the perfect solution. If you’re willing to invest some time into the installation and adjustments, it can be a cost-effective alternative. However, if you prefer hassle-free, consistent performance, you might want to stick with OEM options. Overall, I’d recommend it for those on a budget, but be prepared for some potential challenges along the way.

Replaced Delta brand cartridge that was starting to fail with this unit. Water hammer in pipes throughout the house began immediately. Ended up replacing it with a new Delta cartridge, and problem solved. Not worth saving a couple bucks. Buy the name brand.

My daughter had a tub/shower faucet leaking. I ordered this cartridge to fix the problem. It was an easy fix. Just remove the old cartridge and install the new one. It was an exact fit. The new cartridge is factory set for a lukewarm temp. I suggest adjusting the hot water setting for warmer water. Easy to adjust the temp. You can see how to replace and adjust on You Tube. Not my video.

I replaced my old shower cartridge with the RP46074, and it was a breeze to install. The water flow is consistent, and the temperature control works great now. No more issues with water pressure. This cartridge is a great replacement, and I’m very satisfied with its performance!

This won’t fit the current cartridge. Buy the delta original one.
