This latch was easy to install onto a 4x4 fence post for a gate. They are easy to open and close one handed and well built. They were also way cheaper than anything we found at Tractor Supply and the shipping was quick.

I have purchased several of these now because the animals made it impossible to open and close the gate without being overtaken by them if I had to use a chain and held something in either of my hands. Fortunately for this gate latch... I am spared hoof prints leaving tread like Santa's reindeer running me over. I can now, after easily installing this gate latch, open and close the gate utilizing little time, no fumbling with a chain, and not just one but both hands full with either feed and/or hay. I have been super happy with how easy these were to install, being heavy duty, AND how much easier it is to access and close the gate to the occupied pasture and pen areas.

I was a little worried about some of the other reviews that this was not good quality but ordered anyway. The latch(s) came fine, none were damaged and they installed easily and work good. I don't see any quality issues with them other than the lock holes being far apart meaning you would need a long shank lock if you were to use a lock. Overall, nice latch but the price is a bit steep. They are available at other locations like Ken Cove for about 1/2 the price.

I installed 3 of these for gates at my house. These were cheaper than the ones I could find locally at farm stores and I like how this model can swing either direction versus just one way. Seems to be okay quality and is good enough for my residential use.

Got this cause my dogs can be escape artists. Closes great even with my small little gate. I have a smaller post and just drilled a hold through the fence to keep in place and isn’t going anywhere.

Love these latches. They can be a bit tricky to get mounted exactly right when your surface isn't perfectly flat (like a round post), or if the spacing is too wide and you have to add a piece of 2x4, but once you get it right, they are super handy. Double check that you have adequate space between your gate and fence/wall and be sure to order the right size for your pipe gate (there are two sizes). They open and close with one hand which is great when you are leading a horse!
