Purchased this to use on our hot water heater in the the event of a leak. Highly recommend and it works as described. This provides peace of mind knowing that in the event of a leak, you will be alerted!Easy setup:Install 2 AAA batteries (not included). Mount device using the included double sided sticky tape. Position the attached sensor cord so that the 2 nodes at end of cord are flush/touching the ground. You may want to use a bit of tape to keep them in place in the event they were accidentally bumped/disturbed. Turn on device via button located on side of device. Done!Alarm sound:Has two volume levels to select from (crazy loud and really loud... Lol). You will definitely hear it! The alarm sound has a varying pitched tone (VS a single steady pitched tone). When water touches the nodes, the alarm goes off. Once the alarm goes off, it will continue to run until you manually shut it off.Battery test:You have to manually check the device on occasion to ensure the batteries are still good. Press the test button located on front of device: If the green light comes on: batteries are good. If the green light does not come on: batteries need replacing.A few tips to consider since there are lots of different kinds/variations of this type of device:1. Before purchasing, verify where you will place the device factoring in that it only has a 6 inch cord. Ideally, you want the device to be easily accessible in event alarm goes off or for battery testing/changing batteries. I'd recommend this device for easy to access areas where the device will be within easy reach, but not a good choice for hard to reach areas due to short cord length.2. Decide if you want a basic version like this one (it just sounds alarm and you have to be at home to hear it) or other brands that offer wifi capable (will also alert you via phone when you are not at home).3. Many of these types of devices run on 9v battery or AAA. I preferred one one that ran on AAA batteries since I always have those on hand... VS 9v batteries which I never use and would have to buy just for this device.

I've tried a wide variety of water alarms over the years and this is by far my favorite. Key features include:- When activated, the alarm latches and the alarm continues to sound even if the water contact was momentary. All other alarms I've tried stop as soon as the water is removed.- There is an on/off switch. The switch is needed to turn off the alarm and is also used when the alarm does not need to be ready, when moving or storing.- The alarm level can be set to either LOUD or VERY LOUD.- There is a test button that indicates if the alarm is on and active and the battery is OK. This feature alone is worth the price of admission.- The wired probe is not as convenient to deploy if all you need to do is detect if there is water on the floor or in a container. There are units thatÂ
which are good for a set-and-forget situation for catching a leak on a basement floor. But the separate probe makes this unit much more versatile in placement. For example the probe could be placed inside of a drip catch tray while the control unit is located in a convenient location for controlling the alert.- The alert sound is a warble that is difficult to tune out. Alarms with a continuous tone are easy to miss as just background noise. The only way I can think of improving this unit would be an alert choice of VERY LOUD or intermittent beeping like a low battery chirp of a smoke detector, for cases where the water situation needs attention, but is not an emergency. Even at the lower volume setting, this thing is so loud you will want to turn it off as soon as possible.

Works pretty good. Used them for a few years now.Sound is loud and piercing and can hear it well even when it's in a different part of the house.

We had a water alarm sensor under our sink but after our faucet developed a leak we found out the hard way that our other sensors were not going to fit in the spot in which water would pool/collect in this instance. So we hunted for a corded alarm like this to be able to route the sensor exactly to where the water would collect. After testing the device, I had to tape over the speaker because it was just too loud. With a couple layers of tape and it set to low volume, it is still loud enough to hear from any room while the cabinet doors are shut. While we still prefer the design of our other sensor pucks https://amzn.to/4gDlkWr these certainly perform as necessary. If you are in need of detecting water in a very particular spot, this would be a solid option for you.

These work well and are twice as loud as others. Don’t waste money on others.

These water alarms are well made and are very, very loud on the high volume setting. They have a battery test button and an on/off switch which is convenient. The flashing red light as well as audible alarm is another good design feature. The only issue is that the battery cover can be a little hard to open and close.

I'd installed one of these on a new hot water heater I'd had installed last year, and lo and behold, the alarm went off. (This is inside a closet.) The alarm is startlingly loud, and you're 100% going to hear it. I found that the alarm caught an early drip from leaky relief valve, so this saved me from finding a mess. The alarm activated with just a trace of water in the drain pan. So I can attest to these working as advertised. Cheap insurance when you're talking about the damage that water can do!

We are using this as an alarm for our sump pump. I know you can get one that connect with wi-fi, but we don't have that right now. This is loud with the sump pump being in the basement. We have had some bouts with heavy rain, so this is great if we happen to be in the house of course.

Works as described. Save our buns a few time with the sump pump not working. Way cheaper then a flood.

This has already saved my living room twice from a potential flood as I was dealing with a leaking aquarium filter that could have leaked 250L...
