They mute and do what is needed but were both a little large for my smaller neck guitars. If you have a wide neck or C style guitar neck, these will probably fit your guitar better. That being said, it did for me what was needed and actually the fuzz section was a little thicker than expected so it does a pretty good job at muting the strings. They slide down a little sometimes but I'll just tuck these under the strings above the nut to get the mute that is needed. 2nd pair I used behind the tail piece of the bridge and it works there great as well! Won't help your playing but does mute what I'm trying to mute. Also when recording and playing a solo with no open strings, this slides down easily enough to mute any open strings, which is a time-saver. Good deal!

The delivery, packaging, etc. was perfect. I tried placing the damper above the first fret, but it didn't work. So I moved it down to the first fret and it worked relatively well, however, the first fret became difficult (if not impossible) to use. I also tried wrapping it around the strings at the bass, but definitely a no go. More than that, while the overall volume decreased, it was still audible to others nearby - if I had to put a number on the volume decrease I would say about 10-15%. The string clamp (near the bridge) is a better dampener if you are trying to practice in more populated "private" spaces.

Nothing fancy or flashy. Does it's job.These fit my 8 string electrics (Ibanez and Legator) and all my classicals.Using these primarily to mute behind the nut on my 8 strings.

Works just like the Ernie Ball FretWrap and less expensive. These are great with my 7 string jackson and Jim Root Squier! Gets rid of that annoying monotone. Highly recommend!
