Brand new out of the seller’s packaging, I plugged this into my iPhone with a CF card and it was completely unresponsive. Tried it out on 3 other iPhones, with different CF cards, and none of the phones recognized the device. I bought this as a backup, just in case my other reader failed me (which it did. I now have two of these and neither work) and since I purchased this over 30 days ago, again as a backup to keep in my bag, I can’t return it. Not only frustrating, but it negatively impacted workflow with my team’s social media and graphics folks as I was unable to quickly send images during an event we were covering liveI’ve bought half a dozen of these things from Amazon over the years from different sellers, all from China, and they all randomly stop working. When they work, it’s great and very convenient… but at any given moment, it may just fail and you’re screwed, evidently even if you plan ahead and keep a backup on hand

I made a video for my mother-in-laws 90th birthday party. A lot of people wanted a copy of it. It was 3.5 gigabytes and so emailing it wasn’t going to work. I decided to send flash drives but one person had no computer or tv to view it - only an iPhone. I bought this after asking if you could use it to watch a video on a USB drive without having to copy it to the phone. I didn’t get a clear answer but after it arrived I got it to work. First of all - the USB flash drive would not go into the port. There is a plastic guide piece inside the port that was misaligned. I pressed it down inside the port and then was able to get the drive inserted. I plugged it into the iPhone and the drive lit up and began flashing like it does when connected to a computer. I was then stuck. Absolutely no instructions provided with the device. But after reading the description and a few reviews I tried opening the “Files†application on my iPhone. I never used that app before. There is a browse button at the bottom. I hit that and under locations there was an entry for “NONAMEâ€. When I clicked on that, I was able to see the contents of the flash drive and the video was there. I clicked on it and it played!!!! The video is 3.5 GB and I could watch it from the flash drive without having to copy it to the iPhone. I will send this device with a flash drive with the party video to the person without a computer so they can watch the party video on their phone! There appears to be other uses for this device but I like that it can be used on an iPhone to look at pictures and videos on a flash drive. Handy little device to have. I got the 2 pack and will keep one for myself.

I am making more use of my iPad and needed a device for downloading photos from the SD card on my DSLR camera to the iPad. The reader connected immediately to my iPad and had no issues downloading my photos. I recommend this device.

This allows me to use the old style card reader for “Square†transactions. The original readers were designed for phones with headphone jacks.

only thing to mention - if you want to use an external hard drive you'll need to externally power it, this appears to be an apple thing. But tested it with an sd card reader and a usb memory stick and it works great, doesn't slow down the connection. Handy size was to take with you.
