About this item

  • SERVING MADE SIMPLE: With this oven-to-table-to fridge-microwave dish, you can serve directly in the baking pan without compromising on style or safety. Clear glass makes an attractive presentation, and the shock-resistant Borosilicate glass will not shatter from the temperature change.
  • TIGHT FITTING LID keeps moisture and heat contained so you can slow-cook your food at a lower temperature. With an 8-quart capacity (including lid), this baking dish can comfortably hold large and bulky items like turkey, leg of lamb, or two nice sized chickens. DEEP, DOME SHAPED COVER doubles as a roasting pan and triples as a serving dish for added convenience.
  • HEAT AND COLD SAFE WITH A HIGH THERMAL SHOCK RESISTANCE: Pop your casserole in the oven, stick it in the fridge to cool off, and reheat it in the microwave… all without shattering the glass. Dishwasher safe for quick and easy cleanup.
  • MADE IN EUROPE: This glass casserole is manufactured in the Czech Republic, so you can rest assured that you will receive a quality product that will last for years. Simax bakeware does not absorb odors or flavors, and you do not need to worry about nasty chemicals making their way into your food.

The glassware is excellent and can handle temps of 500 degrees. It is very well made and can handle smaller loaves but I use this for larger loaves of 1200grams and above. Because it is glass, it requires no preheating of the pan and it heats up very quickly. I got this one when I started baking larger loaves that needed more height than the smaller version this company makes. I use both glassware ovens depending on the size of bread loaf I am making.I like it better than my metal dutch oven because I can actually see when the bread has reached the peak height and coloration before taking the lid off and completing the baking. I preheat at 500 degrees, then put the pan in with lid on and reduce heat to 450 degrees and bake for 40-50 min with lid on and complete the baking/browning with the lid off for 12-15 min longer. Depending on the loaf, I may let the oven stay at 500 degrees for 10-15 minutes to kick start the dough on cold days.I've used this many times and it holds up under quick temperature changes even when putting into a 500 degree preheated oven. Also, I spray the interior lid with water to trap moisture in the Dutch oven which helps to allow the dough to stretch and rise. You can turn it upside down as well and bake with it that way too.Worth the price for me!

Because I love to bake bread and have a gas oven, I needed a vessel of some kind to create the steam required for good oven spring. I have a smallish Lodge cooker which is great for boules, but actually holds too much heat and sometimes burn the bottoms of the loaves even with parchment. Then I just couldn't justify the cost of a Le Cruset or Challenger pan just for baking bread. I happened to see a few Bake with Jack videos where he used a glass bowl/cloche and thought, hey! That's different. His loaves came out fine and it was cool to be able to see the bread rise and bake. So I took a chance with this glass roaster, and have been using it without fail for all my loaves. I can now bake BIG (1000g) oval loaves that have the room to rise and are easier to slice than boules. I put the loaf straight from the fridge onto parchment or silicone lift, score it, place it in the cold roaster, mist with water, toss in a few ice cubes, put the lid on and into the preheated oven (on a stone shelf). My loaves have turned out perfectly and the roaster has been no problem to clean up, even with dried fruit and the melted ice. I love not having to deal with a hot preheated dutch oven and being able to monitor my bread's baking. I plan on getting the round version at some point.

I searched high and low for a glass cover for my baking steel. This beauty on my bakers steel was the magical one I tried. I may get the other metal one as well however this is a great dish for what I wanted to achieve.

This is a quality product and I love that it was made in the Czech Republic. The price point is much cheaper than other glass cloches. I put my sourdough in the shallower (top) piece, slashed it and put it in a 550*F oven then turned it down to 450F. I covered the loaf with the deeper (bottom) part. Something I was concerned about was taking the hot “lid” off without a problem but it was easy to do because the larger piece has bigger handles than the smaller one It was fun watching it rise and brown. I think next time I will line the bottom with parchment paper because it stuck even though I put it on a bed of semolina. I know this will also be great to use as a large or smaller casserole or a roasting pan for a small turkey. I think it will look nice as a serving dish on my dinner table. Simax makes great glass products that go from freezer to microwave, oven and table and I look forward to getting more products from them in the future.

Great size and so versatile and just a really nice dish! Makes THE BEST sourdough bread! And I usually bake my sourdough in a Dutch oven! And so fun that you can see the bread as it bakes! Worth every penny!

If you do buy this for turkey, not all turkeys are created equal. They will not all fit. I bought this as a gift for my step mom and it didn’t fit her turkey on thanksgiving, be mindful of that when purchasing this item. But it’s very nice that it’s versatile. You can flip the top and bottom for whatever purpose you’d need to use it for which is great

love this. first dish was pot roast chicken. used the domes lid as the bottom, filled with root veg and half a dark beer in the bottom, whole raw chicken on top of veg, breast side up, no searing prior. flat rectangle half inused as the lid. 325F for 3 hours and everything was marvelous. chicken skin crisp and golden, meat so juicy and flavorful, perfectly cooked and so easy. great to be able to see what's happening. can't wait to do a pot roast and more!
