July 14, 2024 - Since I found this safe to be reliable since installation I installed a second one in the house similar reason, I do not like unsecured firearms in the house. The drawer on this one seemed open a little funky and did not seem right. Upon inspection, all four of the drawer rail screws were a turn or loose, the same 4 screws attaching the rail to the drawer. (Poor workmanship or inspection). Loctite and tighten and it was golden.July 1, 2024. Still working great. I've tested the finger scanner several times a week and found it has been flawless so far. Still on the original batteries.Some of the reviews seem a little critical for low-cost technology these days. Perfect expectations are never achieved. This product fits my needs. I have very high-quality safes to secure my firearms needs. What was missing for me was the need for better security, I frown upon putting a pistol on or in my nightstands. The repetition of remembering they are there and securing them during the day when I don't take them opens up the possibility of theft or unfortunate accident if others came to pass by them.This safe was perfect, it is very rugged. I mounted it securely under my bed. I had in the past reinforced the framing with 1x12 planks lengthwise top to bottom under the mattress area and securely screwed into the frame. The intent was better frame support. That allowed me to mount the safe with a couple of 2x4s cut down the mount the safe a 1/6th of an inch below the bed frame. All is wood-glued and lag bolted into place. Very secure.I used the safe mount supplied. Then setting it up I was having a couple of challenges to get the programming to work right. After some emails to the manufacturer check the batteries. Replaced the new batteries with another set and all worked great. Found one of the new batteries was low. The Master Key Code and Fingerprint reader all work well. One tip. I am very familiar with fingerprint reader technologies. Consider only using one index finger, right or left hand. Then since this safe allows for 20 fingerprints. Store 5 or 6 of the same finger in slightly different positions ... Flat, slight to the sides on the right and left, and a couple capturing towards the top of the finger. The more position you store the better the accuracy of opening the drawer swiftly on the first time, every time. This is not a safe issue just the overall technology for this type of finger scanner, otherwise, the safe would be $100s more for the best scanner. Mine consistently opens every time using this methodology. This safe fills my need to secure firearms and cash when I need it more accessible out of my main safe.

I like this safe a lot. Goes on my nightstand. Scanner works great, passcode easy and can be put on silent mode comes with a key as well. Displays time, temp room humidity. I keep a fulls size 1911 with 1in compensator fits easy plays multiple magazines a knife and sharpener and plenty of room left over. Best quick access safe I have owned so far.

Heavy duty construction, interface is not perfect, but its a matter of setup.As with all fingerprint readers its only as good as what you input. I found if you setup your finger of choice, you'll want to add a few more of the same finger to ensure that your placement doesn't cause it to fail.You get up to 20 saved fingerprints. I chose 2 fingers on each hand, and did each finger 5 times for a total of 20. Each time making sure to place my finger on the reader casually, not as focused as you would, this would simulate you putting your finger on the reader in a stressful situation.time consuming for sure, but I want this to open when i NEED it to open. Allow 5 seconds after recording your fingerprint before testing.Noise, its super noisy! so you'll want to turn off the beeping, and the motor to release the drawer is super noisy, so keep that in mind that as soon as you open it, you're marked.Easy to program the front buttons, the default PW is 12345678.The program/reset button is recessed, this will prevent anything in the drawer from pressing on it, that would result in a reset of all your stored fingerprints and entry codes.Thankfully there's 3 access methods, key (slot in the back), number, and fingerprint. Be sure wherever you mount it, you can use the key in case of an issue. I do like the battery location, so you can install batteries without having to unlock with a key.Drawer easily fits 2 1911 style pistols, but that is about it.Overall I am happy with the safe. I wish you can set the clock to 12hr format. Others want the clock to stay on all the time, however that would drain the battery IMO. That would be cool if you could add a small power adapter.I wish it had a drawer open counter so you could track if the drawer was opened without your knowledge.The LED in the drawer should be on the opposite side, so its not shining in your face when you open it at night/dark.Mounting bracket is super heavy duty! You can mount from the top or bottom, also there is a template you can use for screw placement.I would recommend this for someone, but only after they knew about the minor details.

Even though this is designed as a handgun safe, it works well for small valuables (wallets, keys, jewellery, etc.) without looking like an eyesore!This is a functional safe that is designed to be accessible, but also useful as a clock/thermometer/hygrometer! While this may seem gimmicky, it really isn't. For me, it helps this to look less like an eyesore.All the mounting hardware is included, and you even get a cable tether. Keep in mind that this isn't meant to be a high-security safe. It's small and likely easy to break away from whatever you've got it mounted to. It's more of a deterrent, and will keep your valuables (or firearm) safe from kids, employees, etc.One of the really cool features about this safe is that you have multiple redundancies: keys, fingerprint, and a password. To me, all safes should have multiple redundancies, regardless of how technologically advanced they are.There's no price on the listing at the time of this review, so I can't say how it compares with "dumb" safes.

More than half the price of the major brand version but has biometric instead of RFID. Very sturdy and feels solid. I regsitered my fingerprint without issue. Manual says to register the fingerprint multiple times. Each fingerprint takes 4 readings. 20 fingers in total can be stored. I maxed it out with just two thumbs so I got it at every angle. No issues so far on multiple attempts. Just opens in under a second after my thumb hits the pad. Hold "1" to make the beeping silent. Doesn't seem to be able to display the time as always on. Screen goes blank after 10-15 seconds. Not a big issue.

Solid mounting system makes tampering with itVery difficult. Touch pad takes some tries to get working every time, but learns your fingerprints in a short time. Keep your “valuables “ safe at hand.

The ZLJUAN is a secure safe that can be used for many purposes and would be useful to anyone, whether they own a firearm or not.I was so impressed with the ZLJUAN Handgun safe. The powder-coated metal is heavy gauge, and the spring-loaded drawer slides silently and can be opened instantly with biometrics or a digital code. The safe is dual-layered and pry-resistant. The tight fit would make inserting a pry bar into the welded body almost impossible.This heavy safe can be tethered to a post with the included cable. There are mounting holes and a metal shelf to mount the safe under a desk or into concrete. Any safe is only as good as what it is attached to, and I concrete drill mount all my safes.The thumbprint reader is easy to set up, and the numerical code is simple to lock in. And, because tech doesn't always work, a physical key can unlock the box. Two keys are included. I keep one and leave the spare at a friend's house.The safe monitors temperature and humidity and displays the stats on an LCD display on its front.A manual is included, and the steps are explained in multiple illustrated steps. A bonus for my aging boomer eyes is that the type is large enough to read.Remember that in Canada, your pistol must be stored unloaded with a trigger lock or have the slide removed. Gun safes are about safety. You are legally bound to store firearms securely in a way that protects others, especially children.I've repurposed my ZLJUAN into what I like to call a digital data safe. I edit manuscripts for writers, and it is crucial that these pre-publication drafts not be leaked. I'm using my ZLJUAN as a monitor stand. Heavy gauge steel easily supports my giant monitor. (It would support me!) When I'm out of my home office, I unplug my Mac mini and secure it in the safe. Because of the fingerprint lock, the safe is easily opened and closed, and I have no worries about a draft of someone's novel being spread all over the internet.In conclusion, the ZLJUAN Handgun safe is a secure and affordable way to store anything you want to lock down. The controls are well thought out, and I am impressed at what the ZLJUAN Handgun safe offers at this price point. A gun safe is not a nicety; it is a legal necessity and a sign of a responsible gun owner.
