We normally get bagels at Costco or Sam's Club and then refrigerate any we are not going to use right away. Although there were many reviews saying this bagel cutter didn't cut well, we disagree. The bagels fit in very well and study pressure seems to do the job. It slows around the middle of the bagel, but, keeps on going. This is a lot easier and safer than using a knife.

I was really hopeful this would be like the bagel slicers at the store but it is far from it. It turned my fresh bagel from the bakery into a half cut triangle. By design I don't see this working. The blade on this is serrated and that needs a sawing motion to cut through bread or else you just crush and tear. That is what the pictures show happened to my bagel in this cutter.

We got this so that my 8 year old could cut her own bagels in the morning and have breakfast without slicing her hand off. It's very easy to use, & it's very intuitive to use. The only reason I'm subtracting one star is because it can have a tendency to smush the bagels from time to time in the process of slicing them. And I'm not completely sure if this isn't user error by not being aggressive enough in the slice, but it's not a big deal and everything is still edible so I'm happy. The color is cute and it fits in with a couple of other appliances perfectly.

Unsteady. The guillotine is dull, squashed the bagel rather than cut. I make it work by throwing away the cutter and using my own bread knife. I put a non skid mat under the base.

I put in a fresh bagel and started to press down to cut. All it did was press down on the bagel and smash it up. It did not cut the bagel straight and clean.

I bought it for my 2 teens, they eat lots of bagels and I worried they would cut their hand every time they sliced one in half -so worry is gone and they love that both sides are even.

The item looks good on the counter, it's plastic but still sturdy, only issue is it doesn't cut the bagel, it squishes it. If you push hard enough it will cut through 90% of the bagel, but it is squished to 50% of its original size. One can do so much better with a knife. I think the ones with the knife guides would be the way to go. These don't cut it, literally.

If it was called "Crush-Bagel Crusher" it would get five stars. Sadly, it's supposed to slice but instead it just mushes the bagel until the blade finally breaks through. Then you need to extract the crushed bagel halves and feed the remaining mess to your dog.
