Never used — skimpy hard copy of instructions — much to complicated — I just wanted to play CD music thru some good small speakers — I sent this back to Amazon - this is one of the worst products I have bought from Amazon — Briefly speaking - Less would be more, To many choices and features Thank goodness for Amazon return policy. This item was made to be rejected and returned. A real waste of time and energy for all involved.

You would be hard-pressed to find a better looking combination music player/radio at anywhere near this price. I would rate the sound as OK. The speakers sound a little hollow to my non-audiophile ear. It’s fine, though, for my use. After twenty years our late and lamented wave radio/cd player gave up the ghost. This is now sitting over our bed in its place. There has been a learning curve.I find the remote control unit very challenging. It took a number of tries to program clock and alarm because if there is any delay in programming one step to the next you have to start over. I guess it is also possible to program a playlist from a compact disk. I haven’t tried that and will not. So many tiny buttons on the remote. I read that should I unplug the unit or suffer a power failure I would have to reset everything. There is no internal battery to hold the settings. The unit has a number of input choices that may be selected either from a button on the front of the unit or from the remote: CD, Radio, Aux, USB input (I’m not sure what this is), and Bluetooth. I have used the CD, Radio, and Aux and they work fine. I like the large volume control knob on the front of the unit.Overall, I find operation fussy. It sits in what they call a standby mode. If I just insert a CD and press play, nothing happens. First I have to power it on. There is no lighting on the remote or on the tiny physical buttons on the front panel so if I want to listen in the dark I turn on a light first. The display is very bright. If I look at the unit when my eyes have adapted to night I am unable to decipher the small front buttons. The display does not auto-dim during the dark hours. I cover it, and that irritates my partner because she can’t find the buttons or knob when I cover the display and the remote remains mostly a mystery. There doesn’t appear to be a settable sleep function to turn off the unit (or return it to standby) after a set period of time. It does, however, revert to standby after thirty minutes without input. The display dims in standby, but I am looking for some tinted material to block it. Unfortunately, the cover I now use also covers the remote control sensor.Systems like this are getting hard to find at reasonable prices. Aside from my frustrations with what I see as a clumsy user interface this is an OK small sound system at the price. Everything works as advertised.

I found the Soundbeast radio/cd player a beautiful addition to my study/office. But, it does not deliver the quality audio I had expected; it is overly difficult to play; instructions were not helpful. I could not recommend this item to anyone else. Sorry, it just does not measure up in functionality.
