Bought this SOUTH BEND PP2 Practice Plug (2 Pk) to teach my 5-year-old and 3-year-old grandsons how to cast a lure in the back yard before heading to the lake. Rather than tying the fishing line directly to the practice plug, I added a large barrel swivel with interlock snap to the eye of the plug so that after practicing it could be easily and quickly removed from the fishing line which is already rigged with barrel swivel with interlock snap.

Practicing casting with my 9 year old granddaughter in the front yard this practice plug broke after three casts, all in the grass. It's a not possible to leave a no star review so I gave it one star.

I like to practice pitching to different targets at home around the yard and these casting plugs work great. They are about the same weight as most lures you would use for pitching. Their great for practice, get a few friends together and make a game out of casting. It's fun and will make you better at casting while never leaving home.

Not useful for practice if a hard surface can be hit. Lasted only a few dozen casts before they broke at the eyelet

Purchased this product to replace some older, solid rubber casting plugs. While the product appeared well made, the plastic proved to be very, very brittle. After a few casts in my yard, the plug hit a rock and I retrieved the metal eyelet and surrounding plastic only; the plug itself had snapped completely off.

I continued to use by drilling a small hole in the plug about 1/4 inch down from the break. This fix seems pretty permanent as the plugs initially broke the first day of two of use, but I’ve been using the repaired plugs for months now with no further issue.
