Give the reseller credit - they did say this in this description. This item only comes with the Speed Feed type head and no accessories that you may need to connect it to a different machine. I was connecting it to a Echo GT 2400 (which the description DOES say it will not fit.) However, in the past I had bought an Echo Branded Speed Feed 400 head kit for a Shindawa machine that had a Speed Feed head on it originally but it had warn out. The Shindawa I have did NOT need the accessories and in my left over parts from the Echo Branded kit was a right handed adapter that I was able to make work. I refurbish lawn equipment as a hobby and I had a guy buy a refurbished Echo GT 2400 from me simply because it has this head on it and I was able to show him how easy they are to load cutting string!!!!! While you may not get your money back at the full $30.00 price that Echo charges at the large box stores for their branded unit, I was able to make money on this one I sold as it was MUCH easier to sell because it had this string head on it!!! That head sells itself!!!!So, just make sure that your unit has LEFT HANDED threads and that you only need the bolt sticking out of your machine to screw this product on because, with this one, that is ALL you get! You get a head with a female attachment nut (as pictured) and NOTHING MORE! There are others on Amazon that come with multiple adapters (as the Echo branded one from the big box stores does) to make this type head fit multiple different machines, but this one does NOT come that way. Had I not had left over accessories from my Echo Branded Kit that I bought at the big box store I would not have been able to successfully use this item. The description from the reseller is correct, just be smarter than me and READ IT!!! Good luck!

devise works Ok but had to return 1st order because it did not firmt my trimmer even though it was advertized to be a perfect replacement. Second order included adapter parts but NO instructions how to assemble to my trimmer. Eventually figured out hoe to assemble unit but it shouldn't have been guess work!

The plastic used in the Chinese version of this speed feed 400 is more brittle and breaks easier so be careful when you open the head the tabs will break off. I do recommend the washer bolt mod on "You Tube" on any speed feed though. These work if you are mindful of the cheap plastic. and the cost is cheaper.

Item as described and it was easy to installOnly negative was that the nut that came with this product did not fit my Kawasaki weed eater but it was ok because I just took the not the nut off the original head and put it in this one

I waited to write a review because I really wanted to like this unit. I got this for my ECHO PAS. It looked to be nicely engineered and easy to use but the engineer who designed it did not give any thought to balance. It causes terrible vibrations. it is unbalanced and will shake your teeth at high speeds. It vibrated the unit enough to cause the disengage from the shaft and will shake the on/off switch into the off position. I've used it too long to return it but I can't stand to use it any more and will replace it with a different one. It also seems to be wearing poorly on the bump head. Maybe it's just the one I got, but it's torture to work with.

I was like many reviewers here, wrong about this product and therefore all these reviews are not fair except for the one about not having any instruction. At first I can't install it and it does not make any sense to install it below the existing head. This would stick out too far and the angular momentum and wobbling motion would destroy the gear. One reviewer here did mentioned that we have to take off the shaft with the square base and provided the picture. Thanks for this tip, I took a second look and figured it out.Remove the 3 screws and the protective shield first to make it easier to remove the extension shaft. Put a 1/4" diameter #2 Phillips head screw driver or any pin 1/4" in dia, inside the side slot to lock the head from rotating. Then use an adjustable wrench (10") to remove the extension shaft. A hammer could be useful to provide an impact force to loosen it. This is a left-handed 3/8" thread so to take it off YOU MUST TURN IT CLOCKWISE (when looking at the trimmer from the bottom up). Spray some rust-remover or W2 and wait 2-3 minutes may helps make it easier to remove the extension shaft. I took some pictures and will upload later.

You have to have patience when it comes to reloading line. If there's any dirt, grit, or grass buildup, feeding the line through can be tedious and aggravating, but if everything is clean, loading is a snap.Another issue is the wear on the head when you bump it to feed more line...it will wear quickly, pushing the spring mechanism out rendering the head useless. Wish I had saved the old head to upload a picture, but I threw it out.Overall, I am satisfied with the head, but if you do a lot of weedeating, buy a spare!
