Smooth and clean cutting

I route zebrawood, purple heart, wenge, and other exotic woods. In addition to being very hard, in some of it, it is very subject to tear out. When you route large arcs, like in some charcuterie board handles, you must route downhill AND uphill. I have tried spiral upcut, spiral downcut, and standard flush trim bits to no avail. The key is a compression bit. This bit cuts well both downhill, and uphill.

I'm one of those guys who uses a router for everything even when it's less messy or more convenient to use another tool However I rarely smile when trying out a new bit, but this one made me grin with the smooth cut it provides as well as the speed at which I could remove material. Would buy again!

The bit worked great and had smooth cuts. However, it broke after the third time I used it for pattern routing. I was using the bit on a cherry charcuterie board when it suddenly snapped and flew across the room. Don't buy! It is a waste of money and dangerous.

For a small shank, this bit ran smooth and very clean.

I like the sharpness of this bit. Very clean cuts. I would have thought some dulling after the amount use but it’s still sharp. For my use I haven’t run into problems yet. This might be due to its quality. Would recommend this brand for sure

So it looks cool, but when you consider the overall width is 1/4 inch at max, and far less in the relief areas of the bit - I guess it is not surprising that it is very fragile - I was using it and the router moved a bit, and the bit broke off right at the router collet. The few cuts I made before that came out okay, but I would not buy again.

I don't know why, probably because I was too cheap and talked my self out of buying the right tool for the job and instead kept wrecking my expensive wood every-time I had to cross grain trim with my router. I finally bought the compression flush trim router bit and in a couple of days, have used it almost continually. It works so well on any wood, any grain pattern and does a great job. Hardly needs and sanding. I am a believer in getting the right tool for the job. even if it is more expensive than you thought, it is worth it in ruined projects and frustration. Thank you SpeTool.
