Do not hesitate to purchase - it works like a charm! Prior design/manufacturing complaints have been eliminated: no charp edges to pierce yolks; weld spots have been strengthened - mine has already survived an accidental drop test! This gadget is so good that with just a little wrist-roll action, it will even remove the white strings from the yolks. Best new kitchen find for the year!!!

This separator does the job without the yolk slipping through the separator. Great for multiple yolk separations.

I have used this tool in the past and really loved it but needed to get another and was unable to find in stores. I happened to check Amazon.com one day and was really happy to find it available there. I have tried a few alternatives but none worked as easily and effective as this one. When I make meringue pies, no yolks can be present in the separated egg whites. This tool makes this easy and fits right on a measuring cup. Its a lot easier and more reliable than trying to do it by hand juggling the 2 shells.

This egg separator works well after a slight modification. In the center is the end of the wire wrap. The one that I received was poking slightly upward causing the egg yolk to snag and break - sometimes. After using a pair of pliers to bend the piece downward, it works great. I am happy with the modification and with the results. I used this at least once a day for my meals. And for many eggs (yolks) for certain deserts. It is a time saver. No worries about broken egg shell pieces attempting to separate the egg using the shells.

I really like the concept here, but, it's poorly executed. If you happen to get one that works, I would imagine that it works well. The one I got, however, had a rather large gap in the middle of the rings. This allows the egg yolk to slip right through into the bowl below. When that didn't happen, two out of three eggs that I tried to separate ended up having to yolks getting punctured by the end of the wire that is at the dead center of the circular and concentric rings. that meant that I had an egg emergency, that I needed to stop the dripping of the yolk into the egg white below. Definitely resulted in me removing it and separating it by hand at that point. It just made more work than it needed too. I wanted to like this product. I tried real hard to like it. But ultimately, I returned it.

This separator works as supposed to, no issues and nothing pocking the yolk. It came flat, so I did some little stretching and pulling and now everything works great for separating egg yolks; when i do my ice cream, which is pretty much on weekly basis. One other thing i wanted to mention is that the handle is rotating left and right around those steel wires, not really an issue for me, but just a FYI.

Disappointed in this product. The egg yolk slips into the gaps.
