I like to carve out my shapes so these received heavy usage. Edged dulled eventually but kept caving for many weeks. I only really use the curly-cue (not square-ish end) so snapped it off and wrapped hockey tape to make a better handle, otherwise the handle edges makes blisters. Good product! I use it almost daily.

I am currently taking a pottery class and thought I'd go the cheap route and purchase a plastic tool. Not only did it not work but it ended up cracking and eventually breaking on me after using it only twice. I saw this metal one and thought I'd give it a try. Not only does it work so much better but it helps give me the detail that I'm wanting and looking for without destroying anything I just made or did. The other thing I noticed about this tool is how easy and comfortable it is to hold even with wet and dirty hands. Even when my hands are wet, this tool doesn't slide or move around on me while the clay is spinning. Plus when the clay dries on this tool, I can easily chip it off without damaging the tool itself. Highly recommend and great for beginners.

These work but are not equivalent to the original Mudtool. Mine arrived dull and the blade edges were warped and curled inward. The metal doesn't feel as substantial in the hand and you will most likely have to reshape and resharpen the edges yourself with a rotary diamond bit. One thing I do like over the original is that it is half an inch longer, and fits in my hand a little easier.

oooh this is fun. it replaces all my other trimming tools, is great for some carving tasks, varnishes, even shapes/stretches walls during throwing. there are so many different angles and cutting surfaces!

Excellent trimming tool from removing late amounts to little amounts and trimming and shaping the foot if the pottery piece love it
