Bought a used ‘’98 Cherokee Xj, 4.0 5- speed and the dash light would not come on when I engaged the transfer case. Forums indicate this switch can go bad, sure enough replaced it and now ‘Part time’ light comes on when I put it in four wheel drive. 7/8” deep weld socket fits it, sensor sits above where the drive shaft goes into the transfer case.

Very good value in comparison to OEM switch. 4 star rating because it didn't come with the rubber o-ring seal.

Good replacement switch for a failed 4WD activator switch. Fit my 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel with no problem even though the fitment guide said it wasn't for my truck. Switch fits on the top of the transfer case above the shift arm. When installed I tightened it till I felt some resistance then stopped. If you tighten it till its completely tight (not moving anymore) the 4WD light just stays on all the time. Ease back to just tight enough and its fine. Didn't come with a new O ring like the original but I had one in an O ring kits that was the same. Happy to see the 4WD light on the dash again.

Bought this to replace the failed switch in my 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport. I did some research to determine what could be the cause of my 4WD indicator light not working and learned that this switch could be the culprit. It seemed like an inexpensive and logical thing to try replacing before trying to take the dashboard apart to change the bulb. It was a little tricky to reach and remove but overall not very difficult. After replacing it my indicator light now works! The failed switch had no continuity when testing with a continuity tester so I knew it was bad when I removed it.

It was supposed to be for a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4.0 Liter but the piece was not even close. Returning for refund.
