Bought this adapter for testing Peterbilt plastic radiator tanks. It is the correct thread pitch and same as ford tanks. Works great and 1/2 the price of a snapon tool

I used this product for a somewhat unusual purpose. My ancient 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis has a major coolant leak through the engine gaskets. Choices included taking apart the engine and replacing the gaskets (more than the car is worth); replacing the engine (a lot more than the car would be worth when completed); filling up the overflow reservoir 2-3 times a day (seriously, that is how fast it was leaking recently). A friend who is my mechanic recommended taking the cooling system pressure down to 7 psi from its current 16 psi, then trying a gasket sealer liquid additive, which might have a chance to work if the pressure were not so high. (I put some K-Seal in and it stopped the leak for about two days until the high pressure blew it out.) However, the car does not take a regular radiator cap, and there are no 7 psi threaded caps for the pressurized overflow reservoir. The mechanic found this adapter that he would use for a pressure tester. I bought it, and then he replaced the overflow reservoir cap with this adapter and a new 7 psi radiator cap on top. I was just barely able to close the hood without hitting the cap. I put some Bars Leak additive in, and I have only added a half of an overflow reservoir of coolant/water in 17 days since. Not sure if this will save the old car much longer, but it has been a miracle so far. Threads perfectly (but tightly) onto the overflow reservoir and seals fine against the reservoir and the radiator cap.

I was able to use this with my Motorad MT300 radiator pressure tester. Worked well for my Ford Edge to determine it didn't have a cooling system leak.

They say this is for G.M. and ford ,but it does not work on my 1998 corvette ,even the web site for this said it fit's my vette , but it is to tight , like maybe the threads are wrong. It will still work as long as you don't try to screw it all the way down ,you will know when to stop turning when it feels like it's getting hard to turn, so don't force it and you should be O. K. , so sayith Ray and that's all I'M SAYING , FOR NOW ANYWAY.
