Surface finish and build quality seem to live up to Starrett's reputation. Product feels solid and well built. I had a chance to test it today, ran at 600 RPM, worked flawlessly. The tip kicked out right on target as expected. Comes with a small plastic case. The shank diameter is slightly over 3/8 at .3752'' That said, I had no problem inserting it into a 3/8 collet on the Bridgeport. Tip diameter is dead on .200'' There isn't much to say about edge finders, they either work well, or they don't. I am completely satisfied with the product. Slightly more expensive than some other brands, but I feel the quality is worth the few extra bucks. Proper care and this should last a long time. I also hear they are easily repaired with some generic springs and a paperclip if the need arises. I Would definitely recommend this to a friend.

Starrett makes the only traditional edge finder I will use. I just hope the product continues since the company has been sold.

I prefer the Starrett over all the other wobblers out there.....but I don't think I can keep buying these from Starrett when Mitatoya is selling there's for 16 bucks. A name and trying to buy Amercan gets hard to justify when the American company is having the tool made in China and the Japanese competition is making there's in their own country and still maintaining a quality product with a price that 66% less expensive. The guys around me at work all buy the Mits, and there's work every bit as well my my over-priced Americhina made ones. Is the one I have quality....yes. would I recommend it....yes.....if you can justify the cost to yourself. Will I buy another Starrett one....not unless they get with program and stop price gouging us hard working American like all the other corporations in this country that used a pandemic to boost their bottoms lines.....

Works as expected however the two I received do not fit in a standard 3/8 cnc mill holder so I have to use an er16 collet holder. This is the first time this has happened in my 20 years using starrett edge finders.

This is the 7th edge finder I’ve had to buy (I somehow have a tendency to break them) but this one is the best. Under ideal conditions and if I’m careful, I’ve been able to pick up an edge to within 0.0002â€, which is the resolution of my DRO, so it could be even more accurate. And according to the box, they’re still made in the USA
