I thought i would have had to buy two expansion cards, but this just made life easier for me. i installed this in my vostro 230 slim tower and it works great. comes with drivers and the quality is above what i expected. it comes with the extra risers which will fit your slim tower design. all you need is a little adjustable wrench to take off the bolts holding the riser and put on the smaller ones.

Seems to work great with Windows 7. I'm primarily using serial ports. I was not successful in using the parallel port for a printer but I'm guessing that is a Windows 7 / printer driver issue rather than any negative reflection on this card. However, the metal plate that supports the parallel port is rather flimsy and bends a bit just trying to plug in the cable - I'm guessing it is putting some strain on the mother board rather being solidly supported by the computer's case.

Installed on Windows 10 system, using motherboard Intel Desktop Motherboard LGA1155 DDR3 1600 ATX - BOXDZ77GA-70K. I couldn't get it to work at first, but after reading the reviews, found a reviewer who went to the Startech website and downloaded the drivers from there. You must reboot even after you see the COM ports assigned. Also, ensure the parallel port cable is installed with the red line opposite to as shown on the picture. I haven't used the ports yet, but will do soon.

The card works fine in Win7 64 bits, but the installation is very shaky. The parallel cable will not work if assembled as shown. Also the drivers on CD did not install for me, but there are drivers on the Startech that do install (installed from the Device Manager update menu). The parallel ribbon cable is marked with red edge for pin 1, but the card is not marked, and the manual says nothing about pin 1. There is a color picture on front of the manual (on the Startech web site), same picture that is shown here on Amazon, which shows the cable orientation clearly, but the picture is wrong - parallel will not work that way.The red edge of parallel cable must go towards the front of the card, towards the power connector, away from the rear panel. This dresses it down instead of up, but it works that way. Note this is then in agreement with the pin 1 orientation of the DB9 cable next to it. Note also on the rear of the card, the solder pad of one corner pin is square, where all the others are round. That is pin 1, and should align with the red cable end. Then it works.Crummy install documentation, but the card works fine in Win7 64 bits.

Worked great on a 5 year old PC with Windows 7. Use to program old radios with serial port adapters and run an old printer.

Parallel port does not function on 2 boards under linux. Tech support could not deal with it successfully. I felt like I had alot more experience than the tech, never a good feeling. Complicated driver installation that failed multiple times with no resolution on the Parallel port, finally gave up and used a Ethernet print server to Parallel, simple no problems. Serial ports worked out of the box with no issues even under virtual environments under Linux, but as to the Parallel functions, FOGETABOUTIT !

I bought two of these cards for two identical Win7 computers and neither of them would work. The system simply didn't see them. After 30 minutes of waiting on hold for support I spoke to a guy who, after much prompting, finally admitted it was an incompatibility with the chipset on my motherboard. I bought two cards from Vantec and they both came right up and installed.I would have given them two stars just because maybe they work well without a chipset conflict; however, waiting 30 minutes for support and then talking to someone who probably didn't graduate 5th grade was a real disappointment. (He knew less than I did about computers and used the wrong words several times.)The return process with Amazon was great as always.

Alle Funktionen wie früher bei im PC integrierte Schnittstellen: bidirektional, sodass auch Dongel voll funktionieren (bei mir unter W7 64 bit prof.)

If you're buying this to use with some antiquated software that needs a com port then this won't do.I had an old pc running windows 95 to run an old machine, I wanted to replace the pc, so planned to run virtual box on win 11 and pass this com port through to the virtual machine, sadly though it doesn't work that way, it's too do with a real com port uses an irq address whereas this doesn't, it's affectively a virtual port.In the end I found a hp pc with a com port built in and that worked.
